Good riddance. He took the Doctor from a multi-faceted multi-emotioned character, and turned him into a one-dimensional zany Doctor. They can't kick his ass out fast enough.

Ok I just started watching first season of Doctor Who on Netflix. Dr. Who isn't the same guy? Am I watching the same series?
So far I'm not seeing what everyone raves about. |

The actor changes every so often. It makes sense within the story and they'll explain it to you. If you're watching the "first season" from 2005, just hang in there; the series gets better and better throughout the first two seasons, peaks at the end of the second, is still worth watching a bit into the third season, and then suffers a slow monotonous death through the end of season six. As soon as you get tired of ogling Martha (  ) move on to something else on Netflix. |

I can only say I've grown to tollerate smith. eta: without giving too much away, the way they explain the new actors helps to keep the series fresh. |

The last few seasons have been a let down, but that's because of lazy writing rather than Matt Smith. I actually like his version of the Doctor.
