This is Vern. He was with me just shy of 16 years, and passed suddenly last Saturday.

Madison started going nuts wanting behind the den door yesterday at my mom's house.  When neither of us would get up and move the door for her, she started scratching the paint off it and crying.  Behind the door is a magazine rack.  I finally got up and moved the door open and she got underneath the magazine rack and came out with a tail hanging out of her mouth.  I thought it was a mouse at first, but it turned out to be a skink.

What's Up Dox Dachshund Shop

I think I may have bought the last pillowcase like that--it was a gift for XCR and Oscar.  But they do have a new one on the website.

I took the fellas with me when I went to go dogsitting. We had a dog party. The yorkie is an annoying little thing but the big fluffy one is a great dog.

This is the ramp I built for the yorkie. She refused to use stairs to get on the bed so this happened. I made it with space to put a dog bed inside it but she never took to that.

Why is it that dogs are never satisfied with the ONE toy they have out?  I'm keeping Lucie this week and every night she drags out every toy from the toybox and leaves it in the floor.

I had two "miniature" Weiner dogs, Fritz and Frank. Fritz died 2 years ago, and Frank last year. It still makes me very sad.

Fritz weighed about 30 lbs. He was a real porker, but his back held up his whole life. Fritz was the ultimate people dog. He wanted people around him allllll the time and was very sad if you left him home alone with frank. This is the look he gave me after I asked for his help with a bathroom remodel...

And Frank was a sun worshipper and weighed about 22 lbs. He wasnt fat at all, just BIG for a miniture. All of his broithers and sisters are under 11lbs...except for Fritz. When they were growing up they had a bowl of rice doggie cereal in milk every morning. Made for big dogs i guess. When he was just a pup he bonzai'd out of my dads hands...and he hurt is back legs. They remained smallish and weak the rest of his life (he could run/jump etc, they just never got big). His chest/front legs grew to compensatre. They were kinda freaky big. Vet always commented on it. Anyway, this is him on his last trip to the beach.

I clean Oscar's ears with a water/peroxide solution. Loosens up the gunk nicely, only have to do it on rare occasion.

My Lab/Shepherd gets these every fall, when they start cutting corn/soy.
I've switched him to a 100% grainless diet. He eats salmon/sweet potato with a bunch of other stuff.

He used to get skin allergy/yeast infections.

Salmon oil supplement helped a lot.

Since switching his diet, it is much better, and we are just passing out of his allergy month, and his skin is returning to normal.

That said, the Salmon supplements make his coat feel like a mink fur coat.  It absolutely glows.  If you ever have any skin/coat issues, I hoghly, highly recommend this low tech/reasonable cost solution.  Plus dogs love salmon oil on their food.

My girl use to get ear infections .. went to the vet and he prescribed Mal-A-Ket + TrizEDTA flush and Mometamax ointment.

So this is Benny, he's actually asleep in the first two pictures. The way you can tell is because he alternates between snoring and farting. He's also got skin allergies pretty bad so we have to have dog t shirts for him, stops the scratching.

This sums up Dachshunds well.  They want to run at and bark at everything, but when it moves toward them, they often try to maintain some distance.

Congratulations.  You jinxed me.

Madison has been shaking her head and the trip to the vet this morning indicated a yeast infection in her ears--the first she's ever had.
He put this yellow goo that is supposed to form some sort of "plug" in them.  She wasn't very excited about this visit, and tried to hide in my back seat.

on a side note, Jax really loves me cleaning his ears out with a q-tip. It's strange, he just sits there and takes it wagging his tail like he enjoys it, then tries to eat the q-tip.
