Just like the thread title says, what makes a Tier 1 rifle a Tier 1?
Is this just gun snob nomenclature? I have 3 AR rifles: a factory built Daniel Defense, a PSA build & and a Spikes build. Other than the finish they all function the same. Tell me about Tier 1 versus Tier 2, 3, etc. |

Tier 1- the big boys
Tier 2- the unknowns Tier 3- Vulcan/Hesse/Blackthorne/or what ever new name they come up with. General rule of thumb- avoid the third option. IBTMGD |

It must be a 3 letter acronym.....
BCM LMT PSA KAC you get the point. |

I'm sure this will still catch some flak but how about a manufacturer that has won a contract to supply the government/military with a product that has gone through major testing, evaluation and analysis?
|
|
As I've said on Arfcom before: Tier 1 = What I own Tier 2 = What my friends own Tier 3 = What the rest of you own |
|
You have to get all foamy at the mouth and scream "MIDLENGTH!!!!"

Yeah, but we can't get a complete FN AR15. I love my horsey rollmark, but I'd run a busload of schoolchildren into a river for an FN. |

You can only shoot a Tier 1 rifle if its got lots of tactical stuff on it and you're wearing your tactical beard.

A first; I'm going to quote myself! A subcontractor who produces parts for said named gov't contract may be of high enough quality that they decide to build whole rifles/carbines themselves and their quality reputation is transferred. Tier one is must be. LMT is one company I can think of off the top. |

tier 1: what makes you feel good
tier 2: what you feel indifferent about tier 3: what you hate |

Before I even clicked on this thread I was going to say "Snobs".
OP you answered your own question. |

There is a direct correlation between tierness and the number of adjectives used in the name of said-weapon. Bonus points for celebrity tie-ins.
E.G.: "Extreme, Tactical, Spec-Ops, Joe Bob Smith Limited Edition Death Dealer Precision CQB Carbine." |

Just say tier 1 a lot and dress all tacktickle oh and make sure your rifle has lots of doodads on it. It also had to be purchased here. http://www.tieroneguns.com/images/storefront.png I see a rainbow in that picture. Are you trying to say that store ISN'T magical? Tier one, primers made of unicorn farts... |

Red Jacket builds Tier 1 AR's for the boys down range in the sandbox.
FYI: Tier rating is based on the number of non-factory upgrades/accessories you are running on the rifle. However, if you upgrade/accessorize too much, it will lower the Tier rating. Also, the Tier rating is directly proportional to the amount of money spent on said rifle. If you buy a brand new ACOG and pay retail, it will increase the rating. If you buy a used ACOG for a heavily discounted price, then the Tier rating will not be affected unless it can be proven that an actual Tier 1 operator ran on his rifle. |
