I miss that plane, and the flashy paint schemes.

And the ones that bitch slapped Libyans.

And the ones that were allowed to wear some nose art.

The Second Amendment (Amendment II) to the United States Constitution is the part of the United States Bill of Rights that protects the right to keep and bear arms. It was adopted on December 15, 1791, along with the rest of the Bill of Rights.

That's Ok ..  I think the MUTT is sexy, I greatly lamented their removal from service , and preferred them to the HUMMER  .  One day I will own one of my own.

You're talking about the jeep that had to be ballasted down if unloaded, so it didn't roll and kill everyone, vs one of the best factory offroad vehicles ever?

They were good vehicles and would go anywhere , their only fault was that you were not supposed to jump them, which many dumb ass GI's would try to do hot rodding around in them. They are not wide , they are nimble and can pull weight greatly disproportionate to their size. They were and are great vehicles. They were generally well liked by the soldiers who used them, I take it you were not one of them ?

I had no beef with them. The only thing I liked about a HUMMER better was the ability to actually stay dry in it. Most MUTTS I ever rode in just did not manage to do that with the canopy that was supplied.
My Bn was one of the last to use them in the Military as FAV's for the anti armor platoon. I was a boot and only got to ride in them before we lost them for humvee's, then went to the IFAV.
The IFAV while not as cool looking, is more stable, faster, and can outclimb everything and roll on and off a CH-53. Gotta love being able to go 100 mph :)

I've got a copy of the simulator your army uses for that thing, and the fire control system DRIVES ME F-ING CRAZY!
What if I want to dump the automatic lead function but retain the lased range, or fire KE rounds on full auto?

I'm kinda surprised they went without a missile launcher though.

There have been studies made on fitting them with an external box-launcher for the RBS-56. However, it was deemed unnecessary as we don't really need them for that. We prefer to launch ATGMs from smaller vehicles with a smaller silhouette.

If a customer wanted it, it could easily be fitted though.

I've seen that, but I have to admit I was thinking a bit smaller.  Even if it's just a single missile, it would be nice to have something that you could throw at an MBT if you just didn't have a way to avoid going toe to toe with it.

In that case we would just use a APFSDS in the 40mm. They're surprisingly effective at close range (which would be the norm in Swedish terrain) and it's much faster than a missile.

It was our PL truck.  Our very first 'dog bomb' in 2006.  I was kicked back doing maintenance on one of our BFV's when they towed this back in.  About 3 hours of work and it was out on the road the next day.  I'm still amazed at how much it looks like someone threw a snowball at the truck until you look at the glass inside the driver door.

No one else will probably think so, but I've got a thing for the old H-2 Seasprite:

Most recent model (SH-2G) with T700 engines slinging a couple of Mavericks.  Saw a claim by a former H-2 crew member that claimed that the "G" was so powerul with those engines that it could do a single-engine liftoff at max weight.  (I assume the "max weight" was more a limitation of the airframe itself)

They've tried to hang everything off of these....  I think this is a "D" model with a Sparrow and different nose housing a radar system of some sort.
