I have a mound in my front yard thats been there for about 8 or so years far as I can remember.
Cant tell you how many different things I have put on them to try and kill them. the mound was gone last year and I thought they were finally gone but I see they are back and working hard. the grass is pushed up in a 3 foot area a good 2 to 3 inches....probably been there 8-10 years, maybe longer. its got to be well established If you stand in the area for a few min they will start climbing up your pants. there has got to be someting I can feed these little bastards that will wipe them out. I got neighbors so I cant blow them up |

Five gallons of diesel, a gallon of gas to set it off.
Light it with tracer fire, at least .30 caliber. |

Ortho Orthene Fire Ant Killer followed by a chaser of boiling water has always worked for me.
Only the rare stubborn ant bed gets the boiling water chaser normally. |

Can you stab the area a ton with a spade to break it up and disrupt them? Them do the hot water trick. You might be able to crush all their tunnels.

A little spritz of diluted Chloridane will wipe them out permanently.

Boiling water tried a turkey fryer pot full and it didnt work is it something you need to do every day for a week or something? I only did it once and they went away for a while |
|
terro liquid ant baits, just leave them out near the mound and keep giving them more as they eat it up. Soon, you will notice they are no longer eating the baits as fast, then they will all be gone.

I have tried so many different killers over the years and they are still here. corn meal , terro gell , several mix up and pour bottles. and yes I have pissed on them |

It works and it's satisfying. Dump it on the mound(s) and along any trails that they may take. If it's dry out, the bastards will be dead within the day. |

You have to use bait on them. That other crap doesn't work, they will just pop up in another spot. Baiting will kill them all as long as they go for it.

I'm going to second the boric acid posts. My parents had ants for years and just couldn't get rid of them with the fanciest poisons. Borax and sugar water wiped those motherfuckers out.
Borax and sugar water. ETA: Used as bait/food you're not smothering the mound in this though that might work. |
|
I've never tried this, but my neighbor swears by it:
Pour about half a bottle of club soda on the mound. The liquid will drown some, and the CO2 will settle in the lower passages and suffocate them... Non-toxic and kind to mother earth and all that green crap... |

Quoted: Amdro Fire ant mounds in my AO are now completely resistant to Amdro. I killed the last one in my yard with a solution of hot water, dawn dish soap, and vinegar. |

Piss on them to announce your dominance and authority of your property,
A few pounds of tanerite, Nice tracer round, After big boom, A few gallons of gasoline, A match, Drink beer and watch those fuckers burn!!! |
|
Plug off all but one hole in the mound. Get some smoke bombs like those they sell for the 4th of July, light and direct the smoke into the mound. Use half a dozen or so, plug the hole, and voila. Problem solved.
