...Trucker buddy had an issue with a shipment, he was forced to buy 300# of mozzarella cheese. Sargento 1# logs.

I bought 10 pounds for $20.

ETA: Modified my deal to 10# of Mozz and THIRTEEN FUCKING POUNDS OF ROMANO.

All mozz not pictured:

What kind? Whole milk, or the skim-milk abomination?
Link Posted: 4/29/2013 11:19:49 AM EDT
I'll take 5

I need a bad trucker buddy :(
Link Posted: 4/29/2013 11:21:01 AM EDT
Whole.

I think I'll give some to my mom and hope it makes her forget http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1477332_Smoking__multiple_cat_mother_wants_my_as_yet_unfinished_investment_apartment_____Help.html&page=1

And give a whole pile to my Italian mother in law and have her make something delicious.

Why was your trucker buddy stuck with the cheese? Isn't he just a driver?
Link Posted: 4/29/2013 11:22:48 AM EDT
What was the issue? No meat fell off with the cheese?

Owner/operator. I don't know the back story yet. I'll ask before I actually buy, he's supposed to swing by later tonight.
Link Posted: 4/29/2013 11:24:00 AM EDT
So, why was he forced to buy it? He fuck up a delivery?

He's being very overt about it, as in an angry post on facebook about the '300 fucking pounds of cheese I just had to buy'. I don't think this is a fell off the truck ordeal.
Link Posted: 4/29/2013 11:24:39 AM EDT
Damn, your gonna need 1 lb of Craisans to unstuff you after all that cheese!

Link Posted: 4/29/2013 11:29:35 AM EDT
So what's going to be the dish for the dinner pic ?

White Van Cheese Scam?

Check the cheese for a "Made in China" stamp before it catches on fire and burns down your house.

Never ask questions of a trucker buddy. Just get yer wallet out, then de-ass.

Link Posted: 4/29/2013 11:36:10 AM EDT
Better stock up.

Super lax
Link Posted: 4/29/2013 11:36:49 AM EDT
Temperature problems would be my first choice as to why he had to eat the cost of the cheese.

OP, cheese does freeze very well. I prefer to rap it in foil and then freeze it. You can freeze shredded cheese too.
Link Posted: 4/29/2013 11:39:56 AM EDT
Why only 10?
Link Posted: 4/29/2013 11:52:03 AM EDT
WTF are you gonna do with all that cheese? You are gonna be one constipated mo-fo if you eat all that! LOL!

Whole milk mozzarella doesn't last too long on the fridge. Though there's a notion about freezing it above I plan on exploring.

IDK, it was a round number and seemed like a good value vs. cost breakpoint.

Take it to Canada and sell it. It's like gold up there.

Whole cows milk mozzerella is gross

Real Italian buffalo mozzerella is so much better but you cannot get it in
The US. Tastes like American mozzerella If you took the best mozzerella you've eaten
And added real butter to it

Link Posted: 4/29/2013 12:27:57 PM EDT
Dammit, the cheese panic will never end if people don't stop buying cheese they don't need.
Link Posted: 4/29/2013 12:30:41 PM EDT
Didn't Sargento tell some unions to pound sand recently, or piss of the Obama administration?
I recall reminding myself to buy some Sargento cheese for some sort of political reason...

Mozz freezes well (or at least we've never had any problems with it)

Too bad we're not closer - 10lb for $20 is a buy, especially Sargento.

Imitation crabmeat fondue.

It 'fell off the truck' but its perfectly fine. He just has too much.

Decades ago My Uncle Hugh worked the truck scales for the State of MT.

He once scored a 100# bag of popcorn. It lasted for years.

I buy Italian buffalo mozzarella all the time; I also buy real Italian pecorino romano and Italian fontinella...all made with goat's milk in Italy
They sell that stuff at all the grocery stores here and even our Sam's Club. Christ, how many wood fired/coal fired pizza places are here in the US that use Italian buffalo mozzarella

Italian cheese, deli meats, candies, etc... are far from a rare commodity

This is true, except the not getting it here part. Wegman's occasionally imports it. Still the best is buying it fresh in Italy. It's impossible to eat regular cows mozzarella after you've had buffalo mozzarella.
Link Posted: 4/29/2013 1:27:01 PM EDT
Make a ton of fried mozzarella, I recommend frying 1/4 - 1/2 pound blocks. Slice the blocks around an inch thick, bread and fry. Serve with homemade marinara sauce and fresh bread rolls. Your life will then be complete

fell off the truck huh?

Teamsters will steal what they cannot fleece from you.

We really should just have Mexicans drive our long haul freight. At least the fat slobs here can realize how bad they fucked up their $100k+ jerbs by steeling fucking cheese.
