Morning bump.

Yup, ban fireworks.

This is all boiling down to whether you want dangerous freedom or peaceful slavery (except you never really get around to the peaceful part).

Ban everything but bread and water.  Especially ban chemistry books!  Who needs that knowledge?  Only the professionals, that's who!  BAN BAN BAN BAN BAN BAN BAN!  20 year minimums for violators!!!!

Looks like the 4th of July will be a quiet affair this year by the time they finish banning fireworks.

The only choices they have are;

1) A failed elite and Progressive education system in the Uber-Liberal Bostonian "village" that raised them combined with a good dose of welfare and radical Islam

or

2) Fireworks!

I'm scared to think what a kid could be charged with today if he put a bottle rocket in a whiffle ball bat and fired it like an RPG .

The firewroks that shoot straight up. Usually have a 2-3" diameter short tube. The power can run from the weak stuff you set off in your back yard to the commerical stuff professionals use at big celebrations.

I'm thinking they bought some of the big electrical fused stuff and used those in the pressure cookers. That would be a big explosion.

Weak stuff-----see below.

Yup. Those. The kind I get every year. Or used to, when I lived in a free county that allowed fireworks on the 4th.

I *think* they are basically a type of aerial fireworks that is set down into a steel launch (mortar) tube.  I have seen rows of tubes, maybe 2' high set up and aimed before a big show.  A propellent charge goes off and lobs the display charge high into the air where it goes off and generates the colorful display.  Maybe the bombers salvaged the powder from the launch charge or just bought the ones that go "bang" w/o a display? There must be a lot of powder in the noise making variety as the concussion can sometimes be felt from those if you're close enough.  I'm thinkin' that a license of some sort is usually needed to buy the big ones.

Fireworks legally sold at retail for consumer use (without any special license) in the U.S. can have as much as 500grams of blackpowder per unit. That is a little over 1 pound.

These are typical 500 gram "cakes" legally available if you know where and how to purchase;

This is what the unit looks like if you remove all the colorful wrapping;

This is the specific mortar tube set FNC is reporting the Boston Bombers purchased;

They have reported that they either purchased two (2) of these sets or two-hundred dollars ($200) worth of these fireworks (they can't keep the story straight).

DISCLAIMER: The "legal" status of these fireworks is a convoluted matter. In some retail locations it is only legal for out of state residents to purchase (yes, they will check ID). If you legally purchase out of state, they may not be legal to transport back to your home state. In some jurisdictions, it may be legal to possess but not to display (ignite) these fireworks. I only know this because of work with my local Fire Department regarding 4th of July safety. I am NOT advocating ANYBODY purchase or display these fireworks and I am in no way proclaiming them "legal" in any community anywhere.

Those fireworks you launch out of little reusable cardboard tubes. They work much better than rockets because they go where ever you aim them instead of anywhere they want with rockets.

Fireworks aren't illegal in New Hampshire. So they broke the law to bring them into Mass.

Good thing they both had Mass firearms I.D. cards otherwise they're gonna have to pass another law to make it double secret illegal to have a weapon without an F.I.D. Oh wait.........

I have a homer bucket at home right now filled with a milky white colored liquid. Star San is pretty good stuff for sanitizing home brew equipment.
