Come on, I know there are several watch people out there... I'm looking for the best/nicest watch I can for under $250.

Tritium is a plus, however most of the tritium watches look like ass (imo).

I dont know enough to say that I like one style over another, so show them all to me.

Thanks guys and gals!

Sunnto Military X-Lander can be found for under $250. I've been wearing the one I have daily for 2 years with no problems.

Eat: I have been wanting a Maratac Pilot Automatic. I've seen nothing but good reviews.

Save a bit more and get a used Rolex.

Sorry, someone was going to say it

This one is $280, but I've got one and like it. http://www.amazon.com/Citizen-BL8000-54L-Eco-Drive-Perpetual-Calendar/dp/B00074HDAO

I wear a G-Shock with metal band most of the time, doesn't look like they sell it anymore. Casio GW-2500BD. I had an unfortunate improvised skateboard accident with the Citizen (busted the face, Citizen repaired it for a fee) and I think the G-Shock will fare better should something like that reoccur.

This, or a Monster, or an Orient Mako or Ray.
Link Posted: 4/13/2013 12:12:14 PM EST
I'm a Seiko fan for watches in that price range.

Seiko or Citizen Eco Drive.

Vostok if you want something cheap, odd, and a little fiddly though.

If you don't know anything about watches and your budget is $250.00, you will be happy with a Seiko or Citizen. Go for what you think looks good and don't worry about it. The other stuff doesn't mean much to someone not into watches so stick with the quality and reliable Jap watches.

At under $250, hell even $1000, there is not a "best" watch. Point is, buy what you like because it either utility or fashion (versus hand made) at that range.

Lack of a sapphire crystal. Why is that important?
It doesnt scratch. Unless you purposefully try to.
Period.

Define "best".

Most accurate? Prettiest? Most features? Toughest? Biggest? Smallest? Longest battery life? User replaceable parts?

I just picked up a couple 30th anniversary G Shocks.

Nice watches, one was $180 and the other $350.

I have a Swiss army watch that's been awesome for years.

I have a Seiko 007 that is going strong after a year. I realize that's nothing, but I can't complain none the less.

I have a Orient Ray and love it especially at $144, plus it was my first mechanical watch.

I like it so much I'm going to get a Orient Ray Raven(all black version of the Ray) and buy a OD green ZULU band for it.

The best WATCH is a tough solar waveceptor Casio G-Shock.
Link Posted: 4/13/2013 4:18:52 PM EST
Under 250, Suunto. If you stretch to $400, the Garmin Fenix is titties. Got mine a few weeks ago and loving it so far.

Casio

Solar powered; never needs a battery. Watch is set automatically every day to GMT within one second.

Yea, um NO. My large pilot is awesome, auto mechanical watch, crystal is all but indestructible keeps perfect time and just oozes functional elegance. You have to change the strap though.

Yeah, that's 46mm in diameter for you.

Please show me who has one in stock at $250.

Because I've been searching and can't find it unless I pay scalpers prices on E Bay.

I got a Luminox from Orvis on their closeout web site for well under $250. Best watch ever as far as a daily wear kinda thing. Better time keeper than my Rolex and more confortable too.
It's not flashy, but when the watch snobs are scoping you out- they have no ammo to rag on your stuff.

I think I'll go with this. My Seikos looked pretty and worked great while they lasted. The problem was that neither made it past 4 years. My first cheapo Casio was bought to replace the Seiko until I could get it fixed and they wanted way too much to fix it, lasted for 8 years. When it fianlly died I took a chance on another Siko self-wind

Saw a lot of good things about the G-Shock here and other places and this one has been about 7 years now.. then again I think of watches as a combination tool/jewelry. If it works and looks right for the outfit, go for it. Au uber tactical super duper divers paratrooper watch looks screwy in most settings. B And over expensive watches? well unless you really need all the bells and whistles, who needs a multi-thousand $$ watch. I mean who are you impressing? If you can throw the money, why not? but doingwithout stuff to have a fancy watch?

Dude... I found you a fucking watch.

Citizen Eco Drive Perpetual Calendar. I've got this same watch with an orange face and luminescent hands and markers. It is a solid, nicely made watch. If it was my only watch, it'd be a boss fucking timepiece. The orange is a little much though, so it doesn't get as much wear as others.

The eco drive is a solar powered quartz. It's a nice movement. From a full charge, it'll run for months in a drawer, but they should be regularly exposed to light to keep 'em running. This one has the perpetual calendar function that keeps track of month and year so, unlike most analog watches, it's date function never wanders. It's also got a stopwatch and a secondary time zone function, but I never use them.

Anyway, this version has the whole fucking face glow in the dark. Citizen uses good stuff, the hands on mine have very good luminescence. Regular price on these is north of $200 by a fair bit. This guy has display models for $167.

Shit man, you buy it and think you'd prefer the orange face, I'll trade ya straight across. That glow in the dark is nice.

Decided to buy it last night on Amazon so I'll get it Tuesday, just depends when CountyComm sends out the strap. I'll make sure to update when I get it.
