We'll almost all of us be dead. the country will be Balkanized for the most part. Before it stabilizes, there will be massive famine, killing 25% of Americans due to malnourishment and disease.

The Southwest  (Arizona, Texas, Nevada, southern New Mexico, and southern California, minus central and northern California) will be the most wealthy area with the most recognizably American freedoms. The southern tip of California (Long Beach and south to the Mexican border) will belong to the Southwest Confederacy, assuring deep water ports year-round. A constant battle with La Raza will be waged.

There will have been a massive exodus of dissimilar-minded people from all areas, reminiscent of the exodus of Hindus from Pakistan and Muslims from India when those countries divided. Central and Northern California will be beset by more than twice the number of SFA members than it currently has.

The East Coast will be groaning under a Marxist government, allied closely with Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.

Alaska will be an oil-rich nation unto itself; "Arabaskans" will be a common joke.

On the "good" side: Fusion power will gradually become available and cheaper by the year. Fusion technology will allow the blending of chemicals into efficient fuels the like of which we cannot currently imagine. Space travel (from the dual spaceports of New Mexico Space Port and Houston's Sarah Palin Spaceport (formerly the LBJ Space Center) will be common, the Moon will have established the first 90% self-sufficient colony, a beachhead on Mars will be established, and the Oort Cloud Mining Initiative will finally be in the black.
