Edited to add new gun control bills as well as instructions on how to call congress
Reid's Gun Bill: https://www.popvox.com/bills/us/113/s649 The Toomey-Schumer-Manchin Amendment ("compromises" your rights away by giving up face to face transfers): https://www.popvox.com/bills/us/113/x120 H.R. 1474: To reauthorize the ban on undetectable firearms, and to extend the ban to undetectable firearm receivers and undetectable ammunition magazines (this will make polymer receivers and magazines illegal): https://www.popvox.com/bills/us/113/hr1474 The Firearm Risk Protection Act (to require gun owners to obtain "liability insurance" to own a firearm): https://www.popvox.com/bills/us/113/hr1369 S. 691: A bill to regulate large capacity ammunition feeding devices https://www.popvox.com/bills/us/113/s691 I searched and could not find any other threads (with these bills listed) so sorry if this is a dupe. Sign up for Popvox and the website will email your representatives for you with one click. I have done it many times and heard back from all of them! This website works. Lets vote this shit down for good. More gun control bills in senate and house can be found here. Please vote your conscience on them all. http://www.popvox.com/blog/2013/issue-spotlight-firearms-113th/ Calling your congress critters: Quoted:
If you want to CALL the Senate, here are some hints/tips: 1) the ONE number you need to contact all 100 Senators and every member of the house is "the Capitol Switchboard": (202) 224 3121 All you need to do is tell the operator: "[name of your state] - could I please have the office of Senator [name senator of your choice]?' Try calling that number 24 hours - most Senators and reps have voicemail. If the operator says something like "they are closed. Congress is not in session . . - ASK THE OPERATOR: "do they have voicemail?" - it works every time. HINT: by Sunday night their mailbox is usually full. Just after 6 PM on a weekday you will likely be able to leave a message. 2) Tell the voicemail: "Hi, I am a registered voter and a constituent. I am opposed to . . . .[add bill you oppose] Then, add a REASON: (it will not keep my family any safer; it WILL infringe on our rights; it is not needed as crime is already decreasing every year; it distracts from measures that will actually work; it could be used to set up a registry using regulations," etc). Finally, say: " Senator, I will be watching your votes on this particular bill in deciding how my family will vote in the next election." I have called MOST of the 100 - even Fienswine's number. What happens when you call? THEY KEEP SCORE OF THE CALLS FOR/AGAINST !!! THis is important; they have something like a pack of "sticky notes" with a check-list of bills and then boxes "for/against." They add them up each day. Further, they have a "formula" where for every person who calls once, they estimate there are 400 other people in the district who agree but who have not called. It adds up quickly. It has already frightened some Dems up for reelection next time to state they will NOT support gun control. Final hint: you can call as often as you like. Call over and over. I call every morning on the way to work and after work on the ride home. |

Hit! Although my senators have a good record on gun rights, my letter to them asked them to go a step further and support or join Senators Paul, Lee and Cruz in filibustering any gun control legislation.

Went through them all again. There were a few I missed. Thanks OP.

There's a master thread that was started in December that has been tracking the popvox thing. I'm not calling a dupe, because I think that it's important that everyone see them and hit the polls, and just like you, everybody doesn't see the one that's already up.
I would like to see three of four threads like this one, floating around on here, because one of them will likely be seen where one won't. The other one should be made a sticky, if it already hasn't, but then everyone still won't see it. I never see the stickies myself. I stay logged in 24/7, and have the subscriptions in my toolbar's bookmarks. From there I hit the active topics, and the new topics. I've only seen stickies in individual forums, and only go there if I'm starting a topic, and never to read. I know I'm not the only one. Thanks for the heads up again OP. I replied here just to bump your thread, and to let you know that I appreciate you staying vigilant. |

I would hit it but I am just a stupid 13er that nobody wants here

Hit it. 15 minutes later a bunch of FSA showed up at my front door to call me a racist.

But I still contact all of 'em regularly. Hit all three of them with every item on PopVox and got responses back from each. |

H.R. 1474: To reauthorize the ban on undetectable firearms, and to extend the ban to undetectable firearm receivers and undetectable ammunition magazines (this will make polymer receivers and magazines illegal):
this is getting fucking retarded. has someone hauled a invisible ar15, with a invisible pmag onto a airliner or something? i guess the other 95% of the weapon thats steel, and the brass cased ammo with lead bullets in the mag with steel spring dont set of metal detectors, or can be seen on xrays. |
