according to IMDB trivia was going to be played by Orson Welles, but he died before they could use him. So much for the Higgins theory.

So they just left him out entirely?

That's either hard to swallow or a stroke of genius....or both.

From imdb.   "Producers eventually wanted Orson Welles to be revealed as Robin Masters, but he died before the series ended its run."

First part of last episode of the Magnum series (Season 8), Higgins admits to Magnum that he is Robin Masters, then in the last part of the episode during the wedding scene, Higgins turns to Magnum and tells him that he lied, he is not Robin masters.

In 1981, Robin Masters was a actual character portrayed by Orson Welles.

By 1988, Robin Masters was the pen name of JQ Higgins.

It's TV.  The truth changed

Higgins was most definitely not RM. Not sure why people keeping toying with the rumor.

And furthermore; you notice the line on the magazine on the first pic? That tell you the 1911 he was using was a 9mm; it is a common technique (back then) to convert 1911s to 9mm for ease of conversion for firing blanks.

They used a 9mm because they had a problem with blanks firing in the .45 caliber, but they used the .45 sound track when he fired it.
