Looks to be extremely sweet if the pricing is similar to .17 HMR. It's developed from a necked down nailgun charge. Capable of firing a 20gr bullet at over 3000fps. Would be even more awesome in a AR platform.

I love .17 Hummer, the WSM version might be super fucking awesome!
Also, anyone shot this new(er) Adams Arms .17 Hummer AR platform? I would love to give that a go...not for 1200.00, though! |

400ftlbs of kenetic energy. Supersonic till about 325yds, only 26 inches of drop at 300yds! |

Hmm... I've never shot a .17HMR and I was thinking about getting one in the next few months. I think I'll wait and see how this plays out.

I hear a lot of talk about the .17HMR and other new whizbang rimfires, but I just can't get interested. Ammo is $12/50, or more, and outside of the current panic I could get blasting ammo for an AR for that price, or for double that cost I could get good ammo for an AR.
If I want 'cheap' I can always use a .22lr. Out to ~150 yards or so a .22lr will do what I want to do with a rimfire, but past that I'll take a centerfire every day. I did shoot my dad's .17 a few times....meh. Fun, but I don't see the practical application. YMMV. |

Being a rim fire, it lets us in Ca chamber an AR-15 in this cartage and we don't have to use a BB on the evil featured black gun. Sounds like a nasty little rabbit gun.

I'm hearing/reading $15-20 per box of 50. I'm not sure if that's worth it when .223 is so close (outside of a panic).

More powerful (35 grain bullet @ 3,000 fps and 725 FPE), easily reloadable, and just about the same cost, if not cheaper.

Not much more than that. Everyone should keep in mind that this ammo will likely be much more accurate than wolf or any 55 grain fmj. And a .22 at 150 yards? Whats the use of that. Past 50 the accuracy is falling away fast. 150 is a pipe dream on appropriate game. |

I thought the great thing about rimfire was it's cheap to shoot, and you need minimal or no hearing protection. everything after .22lr is a step backwards.

Anyway, what I meant to say was....
Sweet!
I had a HMR. It would turn pigeons inside out. Traded it for a CZ 452 Lux 22lr which was a net gain. But I always like the performance of that round. This sounds promising. |

I own a .22hornet, its an awesome little gun that I have dropped coyotes out to 200yds with and requires no hearing protection for me. But the ammo isn't cheap, I do reload so that part is not much of an issue. But I enjoy shooting rimfires for the purpose of not worrying about picking up the brass, kind of "worry free" shooting. That's why this new .17 is appealing to me. |
