Anyone have a chance to see or shoot one of these yet? Sounds like a great little rifle but I don't see how they can sell it for 400.00 w/ a scope unless it is pure junk. The receiver/barrel assembly is supposed to be a nice tight fit also.

Ofcourse the barrel receiver fit is tight, they use a barrel that is hydraulically press fitted to the receiver, there pretty much ain't gonna be any working on that sucker.

As for a rifle you might take out 4-5 times throughout the year and fire a total of 20-40 shots though it a year, it's probably fine.  It ain't no target rifle though and custom builders aren't interested in playing with the 710 in any fashion.  Probably a decent trunk rifle or behind the seat truck gun.

In my mind it's a cross between a SteyrScout(plastic stock, detachable mag, scope) and a Savage(cheap price).  It however is not a Remington 700 where you buy the thing and expect to build it up into some kind of tac driving bolt action or expect to have a wide assortment of accesories to choose from.

I saw a write-up about it in this month's American-Rifleman,looks to me like it's junk from the ground up,Let's see, Cast bolt body, bolthead held on bolt with a steel pin, ,plastic sleeve for bolt to ride in reciver with, reciver made out of mild steel tubing,Yup, looks like junk to me!! Kinda reminds me of when the olin corp took over winchester, and the first thing they did was cheapen up the M-70 to the point it was junk,And they had the balls to tell everybody it was "better"

It's made for you Wal-Mart shopper's. Dad always told me you get what you pay for - and if definately holds true for Remington's latest folly.  When I asked them an the Shot Show what the hell they were doing; they told me this was developed to take the pressure off the ADL.  You Betcha!

The purpose of the 710 is to provide a low cost hunting rifle for hunters on a budget. It was not made for long range accuracy but capable of the basic hunting shots.

As soon as you try operate the bolt on one you will place it right back on the shelf laughing. There is a plastic(nylon) sleeve that is always contacing the bolt causing it do drag. This sleeve system also houses the trigger assembly.

There is a rack of 12 at the shop here. One has a trigger weight of around 15 lbs.

Type 710 into the search engine here at ar15.com. You will find a couple of my full reports. Probably go back about 2 months. Good Luck

Think of it this way.

1) Its inexpensive and would make a good first gun for the converted, former "anti" who you've recently taken shooting.

2) You're just old enough to buy your first firearm but don't have alot of money. Behold, there is the Remington 710. Now you can experience first hand the thrill of shooting and make up your own mind not believing the socialist agenda you've learned or are learning in high school or college. [:)]

.....anyway, its just a thought!

Well,  Guess I will hold off on this purchase.  I was looking at it at a sporting goods store and thought it would make a good entry level rifle, but if it has this many problems, perhaps I will look more at the 700 ADL or the Winchest I saw in the same price range.  I did like that the scope was included but maybe I will just spend a little more instead.
