Nurses are crazy
Link Posted: 1/7/2013 8:30:24 AM EDT
There are PLENTY of crazy nurses out there.

Link Posted: 1/7/2013 8:31:38 AM EDT
Yeah, I forgot about the nurse thing. "Horse chick" isn't an occupation, otherwise that should be on there too.
Link Posted: 1/7/2013 8:31:56 AM EDT
Dr on one, surgeon on other.
Link Posted: 1/7/2013 8:32:31 AM EDT
I figured arfcom admin would be on the list.

I can get a copy of the police report to prove it too.

There is a lot of overlap between highest and the lowest with those general definitions.
Don't want to be in the high group as surgeon? Just move to doctor!
Link Posted: 1/7/2013 8:33:37 AM EDT
That's odd. I thought Arfcom Mod would have made the top ten. Huh! Go figure.
Link Posted: 1/7/2013 8:34:18 AM EDT
They forgot politician.
Link Posted: 1/7/2013 8:34:44 AM EDT
Upon further review, I think we might be mistaking "crazy" with "psychopath."

Psychopath > Crazy.

hmmm Site Staff must be #11 then.
Link Posted: 1/7/2013 8:42:45 AM EDT
I moved from no. 2 on the list to no. 4! I'm making progress!

I truly believe a LOT of lawyers who make it in huge firms are psychopaths. I've worked for a few [shudder].

If you want more info on psychopaths in the workplace, read Snakes In Suits.

I agree, i think nurse is on the wrong list.

Seems pretty believable.
It would be difficult to be an attorney with a conscience in many cases...sociopaths would excel at suing people under wrong pretenses.
Being unable to empathize with people would also make climbing the corporate ladder that much easier

This. Because of this alone, the entire list is to be trashed.

This. Therapists too from what I hear. I guess they're not psychotic, just crazy.

I can believe it I had (had being the definitive word) a
friend who was a CEO that was clearly in that category.

On the other hand I have the Craftsman streak in me from my Grandfather.
I have found that as you are working on something the patience required
gives you time to reflect on life and in turn makes you a better person.

Maybe add non-profit founder/employee to the list too.

Sociopaths aren't "crazy". They are unable to feel empathy and guilt and often manipulate everybody and everything around them for their own advantage, regardless of the harm to others.

It's quite different that the emotionally unstable nurses you may have dated; sociopaths have the opposite problem

GD mods for sure. But is being a psychopath a cause or an effect?

List is BS. Psychopaths are everywhere.
Link Posted: 1/7/2013 8:51:05 AM EDT
Civil servant is a broad brush
Link Posted: 1/7/2013 8:51:08 AM EDT
Its a little more complex than that. In 1986 I went to work for a RICO in a profession not noted for its psychotics. There was one problem child in the building and he was kept fairly quiet. Then the top position was filled by a full-blown control freak. Who hired an assistant nazi. And promoted another person to that position, who turned into a psycho. The place became hell.

I left 13 years ago, and its no better now. Psycho come and go, but the culture remains and is self-sustaining.

Agreed. Psychopath is very different from GD's "crazy."

My wife has worked in #3 and 6.

The constant competion to always be the best and treath of being replaced at any time for no reason can take it's toll on you.

They need to break down civil servants.

Honestly, I thought of the DMV or code enforcement when they mentioned this.

Seems to be some line blurring between a psychopath and sociopaths. I doubt a real psychopath could rise to the level of a CEO of a real company.

This is list is about psychopaths, so think about 100% self interest and no morality. I think they probably are thinking more about sociopaths.

There are a ton of crazy nurses (and therapists) but their kind of crazy is being emotionally unbalanced, not sociopaths.

Psychopaths are attracted to positions of power that allow rapid advancement, winning at all costs. I'd add investment banker to the list of psychopath attracting professions.

I don't know, ever listen to Ted Turner?
Link Posted: 1/7/2013 9:03:26 AM EDT
Most likely to attract psychopaths...

Does that mean a psycho would end up in those jobs or does that mean someone in those jobs might attract psycho's like stalkers or something?

Ohh ok.

You have to be a certain kind of crazy in my field, (and they have us do psych evals) but it really wouldn't help a postal worker
Link Posted: 1/7/2013 9:06:59 AM EDT
SWEET!!!!

Don't take my stuff - "Look, I'm #10 on the lowest rate of psychopathy!"

That damn poll must have been compiled in November and December. I can guarantee you no sane accountant feels that way from about Feb 15th thru mid-April!

Won't happen this year though. My happy tax preparing ass is going to be on my way back from one of my bucket list items come April 15. I got lucky and had my name drawn for Masters tickets this year. I'll be on my way home from Augusta on filing day.
Link Posted: 1/7/2013 9:07:32 AM EDT
Damn! My daughter's a lawyer. I hate for her to be associating with a bunch of psychopaths!!!
Link Posted: 1/7/2013 9:07:55 AM EDT
8. Creative Artist

Yay! I'm safe!
