I recently talked to a guy who told me he had spent the past 8 months in Vietnam doing remains recovery work. It appears we have 'mortuary services' troops there today.

Thanks for replies - but I'm looking for a rough date that your average troops were shipped out. I realize that certain special MOS folks shipped after that.

Damn, within the last week I saw a history show that mentioned when the last draftees received orders to head over, but i'll be damned if i can remember.

Combat troops or Support Troops? My cousin was with 1st Marines when they left in 71, he'd been there 3 months.

My father in law did two eighteen month tours in Vietnam, one in 65-66, the second time from 68-69, and had orders to go again in late 72, his orders were rescinded due to withdrawal and he was instead sent to Korea.
