I'm actually a distant cousin, although I've never met her. She seems like alot of fun to be around.

I'm not a fan of her music but she seems to be a sincere and kind person.

GILF
Just saying she my be about 3 times older than me but I would deffinatly have fun with her. |

I'm a huge country fan but have never liked her singing, similar to nails on a chalkboard to me. Other than that she seems ok.
I like her VOICE.
'That' movie was seen by me at about 10 years old, and she compelled me to appreciate her for other reasons... |
Her voice is nice when she doesn't try. 'Dated' an older girl who looked just like her during HS, add balloons and I'd be more famous

I'm not a huge fan of her music, but she seems like a nice person.

She is too nice to not like. Her music is just okay though if I'm being honest...

I like Dolly. She wrote some great songs, and is a talented musician. She seems to be a very kind, humble, and generous woman. She's also got a head for business.
Listening to her sing Stairway to heaven makes me want to drive an ice pick into my ear drum.
She made music? Huh! Never got past looking at them tig old bitties.
Oh! IBTL. |
I ran across her at Dollywood years ago.
She was very pleasant and graciou Shorter than I expected. Those sweater puppies appeared to qualify as "majestic" ... And at that point, she would have been in her mid-late 50s. |

Quoted: Everyone should look this good at 66! http://www.howmuchdotheyweigh.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Dolly-Parton.jpg Gals should look that good at 26, but I bet Dolly doesn't look that good after a shower. |

She did a concert in England 30 years or so ago, I remember watching it on HBO. It was great, had the crowd eating out of her hand. One thing I remember––there were some punk rockers in the audience, big mohawks n' all. They looked like kids in a candy shop, they were so entranced by her.

With my hands in my pockets...just thinking bout Dolly's rockets,
as skinny as she is, no way those are real..
I don't care what she says in interviews, they may have been real when she was younger and healthier, but it is part of her image and she's had them "rebuilt" even though she's lost 50 lbs over time. |
Know what you call Dolly Parton in the bathtub?
Islands in the stream........ Went all the way back to third grade for that one... |
There is 2 things I like about Dolly.

she's freaky looking now - like a stuffed wax museum character

She wrote about them and that concert in her autobiography. She thought they were there to cause trouble until she opened with "Coat of many colors", at which time started most of them openly weeping to a song the were deeply relating to. |

I remember seeing her on the Porter Wagoner Show when I was a little kid, and she was a teenager. Yes, they are real, didn't have the tech back in the '60s.
And Porter Wagoner was tapping that... imagine, a teenage Dolly Parton, yowza... |

She's one of the most genuine, nicest people that has ever been in showbiz. She recently said about her plastic surgery something to the effect of "hell I have fans out there, I'd be doing them a disservice if I didn't have some plastic surgery, even if I look like a nut."
She's also never forgotten where she came from. Even though she still lives in L.A., her park Dollywood singlehandedly made lives better for everyone in Sevierville, TN, even though it's turned into a tourist trap. Most importantly, she started this thing where child born in the county (Jefferson Co, TN) who wanted one, would get a free book each month from birth until 5yrs old. Up until the economy hit us hard, these were quality hardback books of current authors and stories like Mama Llama etc. She's also expanded it to the entire state now. My daughter just finished her 5yrs of books up, and she used to look forward to getting a book in the mail "from aunt Dolly" every month. Say what you want about her ta tas, plastic surgery, whatever, but she's 50 times better than any shallow self-centered celebrity out there now. |

Rags to riches, literally, and she hasn't forgotten what it feels like to be in rags. A classy lady. East Tennessee's favorite daughter. |
