I have a large head, and have recently found a type of ball cap (L-XL FLEXFIT) that fits, is comfortable, and is flattering. I bought a plan tan hat, and I want the standard tan American Flag stitched on. I'm not taking it to the mall, mainly because I'd rather have bamboo chutes stuck up my fingernails than walk through one of those vacuums of acceptable society, but also because kiosks aren't exactly the realm of brilliantly talented trade folk. Should I just seek out a tailor, or is there some place or service that speciallizes in this?

I would just take it to a tailor. I wish I could sew.

Lots of dry cleaners have a tailor on premises at least part time.

Sewing on a patch really isn't that hard to do yourself.

Sorry to contradict you, but if a flex fit L XL fits you comfortably,
you do not have a large head.

Try a local sporting goods shop.

I too have to go with the Flexfit.  It's a damn godsend as far
as ballcaps go for people, like me with retardedly large heads.

I hit a local sporting goods shop to get my embroidery done.  A
US flag should be no problem.

The Richardson 185 XL/L is the only cap that will fit me, and I have
a 7 5/8  head.  I can't find a hat in a normal people's hat store unless I'm
VERY lucky.  When I was in the Army, if my head was even slightly bigger
clothing sales would have had to order my size special.

Just have a Velcro patch sewn on.  That way you can do a Flag, or my favorite one "I come / I fuck shit up / I leave".

If you don't velcro, or want to sew, or take it to any tailor shop, then use shoe goo. It will not come off the cap.

Stitch it yourself.  It should only take about a half hour to do flag patch.

I used to sew my patches on my Scout stuff, and I know how to reinforce or replace a button, but centering a flag on a cap with a middle seam is not something I feel good for.

You're a freaking scout, go for it. Save you one better, get the new iron on sticky for scout patches and then sew it on to just make sure.

Look in the yellow pages for a uniform shop. They will have patches for police, EMS, fire, etc. and the ability to sew them on.

They will probably be able to embroider a flag for you, that would be the clean way to do it.

How tall is the crown on the flexfit hat?  Reason I ask, is 'cause I got a 7.5 size noggin and the new ball cap style hats look like beanies on me.  I need something with a crown that is taller, like back in the early 90s or earlier.

You want a flag patch sewn on?   Not somethign embroidered from scratch?

ANY dry cleaner that does alterations (which is most of 'em)  can handle this for you.  boom.  simple.   cheap. /thread

Its just a mall..Lots of businesses in one big bldg.

Cant be that bad can it? I enjoy going in the mornings during the week, lots of older hotties walking the mall during that time ..

If it still bothers you, yellow pages for tailor, alterations, mens warehouse ect. take care of that stuff.

Sewing is a manly skill. Don't let others fool you or tell you it's woman's work. How are you going to suture a wound if SHTF if you can't sew properly?

Buy a sewing kit and practice a little bit. The more time you put into it, the better it will look.

I made up my own single point sling out of my POS issued one and sewed it all together (worked awesomely). The crappy bags we were given for deployment quickly ripped, but I was able to repair it and it lasted the rest of the deployment.

I caught nothing but shit for sitting there sewing/repairing my shit. I got called a fag and asked why I was doing woman's work. That was until they realized I had spent 15 minutes sewing and my shit looked like new again, and theirs was still all busted up.

My buddies then asked me to sew their stuff up for them. "Weren't you just calling me a fag for sewing up my stuff? Go fuck yourself."

Heard that a few times.

It's a very manly, survival skill.

My melon goes 73/8 -7.5 depending on cap/hat.  What is the current definition of large?  I can't recall having trouble finding a cap/hat to fit my punkin head in any Academy or Bass Pro I've frequented.

two choices I think. One get one of those blank multicam hats with the blank velro patch square on front and attach a Flag to that, but those look really silly imo.

Your best bet is to buy one from Tactical Tailor. The American Flag hats come in XL and are adjustable, plus you get to walk around all day with this motto written across the back .

(Yes I know its the Motto for 3rd group not 5th..., deal with it)

So, how much did you charge them to fix their broken stuff?
