THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT

The shading was done by pouring gunpowder on the brass and lighting it up, with the darker areas being flashed subsequent times. The art is incredibly well done and the idea is pretty cool, but $40K cool?

A bit about the artist who live is Laguna Beach, CA:

"David Palmer, who is not a fan of guns, intends neither to glorify nor criticize gun use and ownership, but merely to point out its significance in culture and society."

"Adapting his theme a little to include icons of gun culture and not just those who have met their demise by their use, Palmer just released "The Duke”, honoring western and war film icon John Wayne."

Standing in front of it, that was my exact thought. Not having $40K to spend on brass art is another thing....

Maybe I'm not up on brass pricing these days, but that doesn't look like $40k worth of .40 cal brass to me.

Go to a public range and watch how frantically the brass rats scurry around. It must be worth a lot!

I just counted it (quickly - I may be off a bit): ~55W x ~85H (Reagan portrait). So...~4,675 rounds. Give or take.

Maybe that's the offering of the ART cost? Otherwise, that's about $200 worth of range pick ups.

I might give $100 for it.

It is sweet, but not more than $100 sweet.

Concur.

While cool, I don't think I'd spend more then $1k on that, and it had better be framed pretty damn nice.

Not .40 cal, that shit is left by the metric ton every where at my range. Hell, I offer some folks money just to pick it up and get it the hell out of my way––of course, not much.
Not 10 mm, that is hard to find.
Of course here, the price is for the art, the brass is free.

That's actually some pretty cool stuff.

I'd rather see pictures of guns than people done like that... it would fit the medium better IMO and make it worth more(or worth what they are asking).
If I'm posting in this font/color combination, there is a good chance I am being sarcastic.

How about a portrait of .40 cal Bruce B?

Where's Covert, when you need him...

Maybe that's why every piece in the gallery was .40 cal.

I think by the way it's staggered, your number is on the small side..but it's a very good ball park.

That's less than $2000 worth of ammo...so I assume the brass itself is maybe half that much?

Very smart business man. He's filling a niche. The conservative gun nut rich guy that has everything and wants to show off something unique in his man cave that doesn't ooze with Liberal anti gun sentiment.

Wish I'd thought of it.
