I got a 3"x1/4" splinter in my little finger on Tuesday it was too deep to get out but got it out today. Its all numb from the tip to my first knuckle.Think I might have damaged a nerve?Maybe the feeling may come back?

Since when is 3" x 1/4" a splinter? Little finger? Were you being interviewed by a terror cell?

Damaged a nerve? Keep it in there if you aren't full of shit.

Nerve damage does heal sometimes, it's odd the way it does though and sometimes it isn't ever the same.

Your body grows little hyper-sensitive nerves to try to bridge the gaps and they can give wierd sensations and such.

It'll probably heal up fine if it's just a small area of you finger.

If your finger is completely numb and you think a major nerve is severed you need a surgeon, they can make sure everything heals up as good as possible.

If you're not sure, go to the doctor and have it looked at.

Is this a parody of the necrotic finger thread?
I'm sure a splinter of that size also introduced various hungry microorganisms in to your hand while it damaged the nerve.

I'm starting up my phone.Post a pic in 10 mins or so.

I haven't been able to bend my finger and I could feel it all the way to my hand when it moved.

After I got it out I can now bend it all the way, just no feeling from the first knuckle up.

Cut it off.  Your finger has betrayed you and can no longer be trusted.

I once put a palm frawn through my middle finger.  I tried to dig it out myself but couldn’t.  I kept trying but finally went to the PC physician.  He took one look and sent me to an Ortho for surgery – where they informed me that it was infected & if I had waited another day I might have lost MY ARM.

PSA:  If you have a medical problem go to the f**king doctor instead of posting here.

Tie a string around it.  It'll turn black and fall off on it's own.

It has inflammation with no place to go. Probably compressing blood vessels. Nice start to a healthy infection probably too. Maybe a little pus pressure? Time for a doc.

The best thing to do at this point is take a razor sharp axe and chop off half of the offending finger and then stick the bloody stump in a hot fire or use a white hot fire poker to seal the wound. F the Dr. he'll just cost you to much money.

Looks infected.

Squeeze the tip of that finger real hard and look at your fingernail as you release the pressure. It should be white under the fingernail when released....and turn back to pink within a couple seconds at most. That's called a capillary refill test. If it doesn't, you have compromised the circulation in that finger, and the finger is in danger of necropsy.

I would go to the doc asap. You need to deal with the infection and any lack of circulation....before you either lose your finger or cause permanent damage from infection.

If you can't make it in to be seen before morning, I'd be soaking your finger in warm water w/ epsom salts.

Not a doc.
