You can do the same thing with a strobe light and a ceiling fan. Set it up to sync and it looks like the blades are still. Then you lure people into putting their hand up there.....

Cool as hell . Did they have to fill their suits with or did natural buoyancy keep them against the ice? |

not the same fucking shade I have to agree. 1) If they are the same shade you wouldn't see a checkerboard pattern at all 2) Since when does moving a dark color into the shade make it lighter? Do magnets piss you off too? |

Cool as hell . Did they have to fill their suits with or did natural buoyancy keep them against the ice? You have a buoyancy control device of some sort when diving, be it on your back or a vest. It is inflated with a small amount of air from your tank to give you more positive buoyancy. You release the air to become more neutrally or negatively buoyant, depending on what you want to do. You balance it out with lead weight depending on your natural buoyancy, your equipment, and conditions. They probably didn't have weights and had nearly full BCDs when they did that, so they would be much more positively buoyant. |

If you cross your eyes to the point that you see three images and focus on the image that appears in the center of your vision, the image below will show in 3D. No bullshit. You might have to put your face a foot or two away from your screen for it to work. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/10/Stereo_Pair%2C_Lake_Palanskoye_Landslide%2C_Kamchatka_Peninsula%2C_Russia.jpg Cool. Headache, but cool. |

Bull doo doo. Makes two squares next to eachother and they're significantly different. The only illusion is the belief they are different. ETA: Doh! I must have grabbes the color from the letter. It simply does not seem possible, before OR after seeing it's really true. |

So is frame rate the same as rotor RPM, or a multiple of it? I believe it would work at a multiple because we don't know that we are seeing the same blade in a given position in each frame. |

If you are having trouble seeing it, try this: -watch her spin whatever direction, lets say you see her going counter clockwise -then close one eye and block out the image with your hand. -adjust your hand so you only see the lower left corner enough to see the tip of her foot pass. -watch it for a few turns and image that little tip of foot you see is moving CLOCKWISE -and slowly reveal the image by moving your hand to the right |
