Hard to compare the two as the 2nd one was on a more grand scale but I always liked the rough b movie feel of the first one.

The first one had a better overall story...the second was more interesting to watch...I like em' both...that police station scene in the first film is still pretty cool...

T1 is the best of the movies. The Chronicles are a pretty close tie for the whole franchise.
|

Terminator was a better sci-fi movie.
T2 was a better action movie. |
|
Its like comparing Alien and Aliens.
All of them are damn fine films. That said, I've seen T1 more times than any of them. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

As much as I love the first one my list goes
T2 Judgement Day T1 Salvation Fuck Terminator 3 |

The first one by far.
The second, third and fourth ones sucked |

Terminator was a better sci-fi movie. T2 was a better action movie. I'm going with this. T1 was a landmark for sci-fi cinema. T2 was a blockbuster for sure. |

Quoted: T1 all day, every day. Eta: "I'll be back." is an iconic movie line. |

T1 all day, every day. FPNI There isn't a ounce of fat on T1. Low budget, hungry director...every scene makes sense and the movie just keeps trucking along. T2 is flabby with its big budget and SFX. Shit, the first thing you notice is the stupid T-1000 can't travel through time. Then the whole My Pet Terminator thing and the whiny fucking kid....I'll take Kyle Reese vs. the T-800 all day. Lastly, I never felt the dread, the impending doom that the Terminator would find Sarah Connor like in the first film. In T2, once they left the city and were on the freeway I felt like they escaped the T-1000 and they were safe. I never felt that in the first film. |

T2. The black Fatboy made that movie. I don't recall any heavy set children of color in T2. Must have been the director's cut. http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-ak-snc4/50513_305537394335_5220020_n.jpg I knew that was coming I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle. |

Both were good films, T2 had more character development and you could almost understand the characters better.
The scene with Sarah Connor about to kill Miles Dyson, and then at the end when Ahnold says "I know now why you cry, but it is something I can never do..." T1 had some great story and the "basic human survival" theme with it. Both together though is one great story! They compliment each other quite a bit. Seeing Sarah as the young innocent woman in the first to the "stone cold" at the beginning of the second, finally regaining her humanity.... Good shit |

Terminator.
The only really good thing about T2 was the T1000 character. It's got too many one-liners and John Conner is annoying as hell. |
|
i believe the first one is probably the better movie, but I have to go with number 2. It was the first 'grownup' movie i watched at the age of 5. At age 5 it was the most awesome thing in the world and is probably also why I always wanted a harley (which I have now).

When I saw T1 for the first time I was blown away. The horror, dread, story, and sci-fi action were off-the-charts.
It happened all over again when I watched T2 for the first time. If that happens, you have to go with #2 because sequels are not supposed to surprise or impress you like the original did. T2 was as big a blockbuster action movie as there ever was. Those of us that remember the summer of 1991 know what I'm talking about. There was limitless buzz leading up to its release and then sold-out theaters for weeks after. |

Terminator 2 ... My first date movie with the woman that brcame my wife.

Tough one, but I gotta go with T2.
T3 is like Alien Resurrection, I pretend it never happened. |
|
Hard to say as the 1st and 2nd were both one of a kind, and first in the genre.
which was better? isn't even comparable because it was the continuation of a story line, and first class of it's kind by all respects. Not like it was comparing Outlaw Jose Whales to Magnum Force. T1 was what it was and for it's time period in the 80's nothing else like it existed T2 was taking an already great story and continuing it with 90's technology, only not screwing it up like trying to remake Total Recall. |

While I saw the movies a bit later after they had come out (born in 1988 ) T1 was great, even watching it now it's not stupid and corney. The story was great and for the time, the movie was very well done. T2 blew me away. I thought the movie was over the top. It was a bit more exciting to me probably because I was getting older but I loved that movie as a little kid and it's still in my collection today. |

I prefer T2, but it pisses me off every time I watch and hear a 2-stroke engine dubbed in over John's 4-stroke Honda.

I find this funny as I literally watched T1 and then T2 today. I like T2 more, but the kids whiney bitch voice bothers me. They should have waited for his balls to drop or found another kid for that part.

T1 is the better movie
I didnt like the liquid metal bull shit on T2 they should have kept them all mechanical with living tissue over metal skeleton series terminators the LIQIUD METAL type was just too silly and not believable, it was no longer a robot it was more like an alien |
|
Both movies are great, but what I think impressed me the most is how both T1 and T2 actors portray their characters. It took me a while to notice but Robert Patrick doesnt blink a single time when he empties his Beretta into the T1's back in the mall during T2. Impressive. Also his constant scanning as he walks and unmoving face are great at portraying a robot, he did a fantastic job.

Used to think T2 was leagues better. Now I'm older and see the touchy-feely teddybear android with a heart bullshit as bullshit.
Now I think T1 is better. Ruthless, asshole cyborg from hell here to kill you. |

in Terminater 1
the scene when he's in the car chase in the garage trying to gun down Sarrah Conner and he wrecked into the wall and the police checked the car and Arnold was gone? why did Arnold run away and hide from the police? when he could have completed his mission by destroying Sarrah Conner? what was he afraid of? |
|
Both have their good parts, both have some serious weaknesses. The first one lost me at the end, when Sarah Connor suddenly stops being the helpless little girl and starts screaming at Reese like a drill instructor.
The kid in the second one was just James Cameron whining. That's what he does. That's all that he does. You can't stop him. |
