Yes. Lets just ignore the fact that she was violating regs all the time she was in the closet.

Yep. She came in before DADT. Lied on her commission papers, lied on numerous security clearance applications. Great to have a General Officer in service with no integrity.

What does the UCMJ say about sodomy? How many servicemen have stuck it in the pooper?

Pooper? Hell, how about a blow job?

Based in part on a fradulent "survey" that had the results before the survey was even taken.

I know a shit ton of people in or freshly out of the military. If you want to use the adherence to the UCMJ as the yard stick for everyone, you'd better start cleaning up the ranks of the heteros first.

Yes - it's long overdue. If you know so many military people, you probably understand why there are rules about adultery and fraterinaztion.

Alos "someone else did something wrong too" is not, in fact, a defense for wrongful actions - is it?

Certainly, but, "they're doing it wrong while the rest of us are" is a shitty defense as well, don't you think?

Why roll your eyes? What does the UCMJ say?

"Any person subject to this chapter who engages in unnatural carnal copulation with another person of the same or opposite sex or with an animal is guilty of sodomy. Penetration, however slight, is sufficient to complete the offense."

Emphasis added by me.

I love how gun related threads are filled with cries of innate rights and the duty of mankind to reject immoral legislation, yet immigration and homosexuality threads are filled with cries of "The Law is King! All Hail the mighty Law!!"

It makes this place what it is, I guess.

It sets a great example to put someone in a leadership position that was disobeying the very regs she was sworn to follow, and now will be in charge of enforcing upon others. That's a problem, yes?

Also, no one has a *RIGHT* to be in the military or promoted. One can be barred from serving for being disabled, having certain diseases, being color-blind, or any number of reasons. In fact, CONGRESS gets to decide who can serve in the active duty military.

When did I - or anyone - say anyone has the "right" to be promoted?

I'd say it was probably about the same time the people you criticize said "The Law is King! All Hail the mighty Law!!"

Taking a concept of the right not to face persecution for a given behavior, and stretching that to mean they must be given special rights seems to be a common theme in many threads having to do with homosexuality here.

Your so-declared "right not to face persecution for a given behavior" DOES NOT ACTUALLY EXIST, neither in theory nor in practice.

You said I am too new to be speaking to "established" members that way.

So whats the cutoff where I can speak my mind? 10,000 posts? A join date of 1 year plus?

I must have missed in the TOS where new members had to bow down to those with 30+ posts per day.

No. you brought up post count; I said you were pretty new here to be taking shots as established members. We haven't gotten to logic yet, we're still dealing with they fact that you either can't read English, or can't remember what you posted an hour ago.

This.

Why do I care?

Some people just don't get the idea of keeping their nose out of other people's business.

Because the military is not like civilian life, it is a team endeavor and often things that interfere with team cohesion influences not just that persons ability to do the job but the whole team.

How does this affect her performance of duties? If it did, I could definitely understand concern, but unless that was proven it's immaterial what she does while not on duty.

Active duty is always on duty, always subject to the UCMJ. Which is why you roll the dice anytime you cheat on your spouse because if they find out you can be disciplined for it, unlike anywhere else in the U.S. Government (including, obviously, the Oval Office). We've reached a point as a society where it is more important that the individual has the freedom of choice, than the military has the freedom to craft policies based on discipline and effectiveness. I have yet to hear a single good argument as to why the repeal of DADT (or the passage of DADT in the first place) would increase military effectiveness. Granted my POV is a little skewed since my first few years in the military were in an infantry battalion. There, where everyone lives together in squad bays, the last thing you need is members of the same unit messing around with each other. In gender integrated units this is already a pretty big headache.

Logic is right out the window indeed.

I wasn't taking "shots" at anyone. You said I was too "new" to be speaking that way, you meant either join date or post count, so which is it?

Once again what is the cutoff point where I can speak my mind?

Yes. Lets just ignore the fact that she was violating regs all the time she was in the closet.

Let's all just ignore laws and rule swe don;t agree with. What can go wrong?

Equal rights under the law?

Inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Concepts like this have been around for some time.

Oh, you're right, I completely forgot! Thanks to the enumeration of those rights, nobody ever gets persecuted in this country- or at least if they do, the persecutor gets arrested and tried for persecution. Gosh, with all that case law on "persecution" verdicts out there, how could I have missed that?

Seriously though- you forget that the rights to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" do not free you from outside criticism (/persecution) of you exercising any of those rights. Or have you never heard of the Westboro Baptist Church?

Yep. She came in before DADT. Lied on her commission papers, lied on numerous security clearance applications. Great to have a General Officer in service with no integrity.

What does the UCMJ say about sodomy? How many servicemen have stuck it in the pooper?

Pooper? Hell, how about a blow job?

I heard she served under Colonel Lingus!

So by this logic, an 18-year-old shouldn't ever "take shots" at George Soros? Or Dick Cheney or Richard Dawkins- or any other elder person they have cause to disagree with, for that matter? Wish I knew how to embed the BS flag.

Kindof ok with it. I think having her lead missions against certain elements would be awesome. I think the idea of our enemies knowing they can't even stand up to a homosexual American woman should sent a pretty strong message.

So by your admission she's inferior to a heterosexual American man then?

Army's first gay general

Note that gay comes before general. It reads likes she's the ambassador of homsexuality for the Army.

It's obvious it was a huge "qualification" over her peers. If it was just a promotion to BG that happened to be gay it would be Tammy Smith promoted to BG and one would find out about her irrelevant sex life within the context of the article.

How many promotions to BG include a picture of the new BG with their spouse and a quote from that spouse?

1) Congratulations to the General, although it does bother me if she did lie on official documents. However if you haven't read the documents, you don't know if she lied or not.

2) Congratulations to StonerStudent, I wish you great happiness.

3) My opinion of homophobes is negative, the same as it is for all bigots regardless of their particular target.

You dont agree with what I am saying so you are going to try your best to have me banned?

That says alot about the type of person you are.

As a woman on a male dominated gun forum I think you have been treated with kid gloves so far.

It can be harrowing when someone calls you on your BS.

Like I said, you need to learn to read English before you try deal with logic.

Of course, you were. That snide "Who wore the dress" was formulaic gay-baiting.

When can you speak your mind? When you have some idea of the person you're being rude to. Although no one here is much interested in SS's honeymoon videos, the fact is that he's a pretty well liked and respected member in GD. You on the other hand are just another ill-mannered newb looking to make a splash. Social skills, you lack them.

Jesus, another reading comprehension failure. It's not a matter of age. The newb could be eighty for all we know. It's shit-talking a person you know nothing about. Come on, guy, get on the bus.
