The dog has just trying to hold her still in a protective manner. Her violent thrashing against his teeth caused the injuries to herself.

That's only a 500 - 600 lb bite force. Good thing it was not a big dog.

If this had been a Golden Retriever....maybe she would have had warning that she was about to have a seizure, laid down, and had the dog comfort her until it passed. Or it could have fuckin' killed her. You just never know... Oh wait... ![]() |

I can remember when the newsmedia was focused on reporting dog attacks by Doberman Pinschers. Everybody was afraid of the Doberman Pinschers in the 1970s and early 80's. These days the fear mongering is on Pitt Bulls.
Same old shit. |

Old timers here that can remember the 1970s will remember when Doberman Pinschers were notorious for "attacking their masters". People were saying that the the breed was mentally unstable. It was an urban legend that came from sensationalistic news reporting and the usual fearmongering.

I am also saying that these kinds of attacks have also come from other breeds and mongrels, they are just not considered newsworthy because the fearmongers are focused on the Pitt Bulls for the moment. Another decade it might be German Sheppards in the media spotlight. |

I remember the hype over Dobies pretty well. We had one for a short time and it was a really nice dog, but I was around a few that weren't.
I have been around a lot of pit bulls and don't really like them at all. There are a lot of pit bull attacks on people because there are a lot of pit bulls out there right now. |

Same thing happened with Irish Setters and Cocker Spaniels when they were THE breed. My neighbor had a 90 lb. lap doby. |

Part of the problem is that the people who usually buy Pitt Bulls are seeking a fighting dog and so they raise them to be aggressive which can cause tragedy when few owners really know how to control an aggresive dog. |

I find it difficult to believe, nay near impossible, that a healthy and properly bred Golden Retriever "mauled" anybody with enough force to penetrate the Zygomatic bone. Certainly there were other influencing circumstances affecting the situation you describe. |

There have been similar dog attacks by other breeds and mongrels. Deaths even. They are just not fashionable enough to make the news. |

Any dog attacks by other breeds & mongrels are not newsworthy. Lab owners have powerful lobbyists in Washington that keep all the Labrador Retriever maulings out of the media. |

Sorry for the pain she is going through but she did something very dumb by bringing that dog into her life and has paid for it dearly.

Still happens, but just like with any gun related stories, the fuckstream media hypes attacks/maulings/etc by "Pitbulls" which typically turn out to not actually be Pitbulls, but that's of little relevance to the usual suspects here and elsewhere. |
