What do I have to do to prepare them?
Cut off the head? Remove the guts? What's the deal? |

I usually split them in half and scrape off the spine. The are small enough that you can eat the whole thing I'm just weird like that. I like them on a saltine with some sirachi sauce or a pickled jalapeno.

They're good on saltines as stated above. They are also good on white bread with mayonnaise. Sardine sammich. Mmmmm mmmmm good.

add them to your Vietnamese "BANH MI" sandwich to kick it up a notch
or throw some on a slice of pizza, kind of like using anchovies to add flavor |

You eat whatever is in the can.
You do not need to prep them. I like plain ones with Franks Hot Sauce The mustard ones I eat with ritz crackers and minced onion. |

They're good on most any cracker. I like them best on rye crackers.

I like to open them up and put the sardines on a plate. Throw the plate to the cat and eat the packaging with some saltines.

Put them on a hook and catch a tuna. Then eat the tuna. Admittedly, I've only done this once.

Open can, sprinkle some tabasco on the little fishies, spear with fork and pop in mouth.
They are meant to be eaten whole, as is. |

The only thing I usually do is split them in half and remove the backbone, you can eat it but I prefer not too. Other than that slap it on a saltine and enjoy

I like them on crackers with a side order of cheese, sliced onion and pickles. It's best to wash them down with a nice mellow home brew. This is like Saturday afternoon food.

Always packed double layer in olive oil. Never mustard or catsup!
Saltine crackers and red pepper, chased by ice cold beer. |

Right outta the can, either Mediterranian style (oil, olives and seasonings), with dijon mustard sauce, or my personal fave which is Louisiana hot sauce.
No crackers. I also love smoked oysters and kipper. |

Among other things, I like them in fried rice. Try Moroccan imports in olive oil.

If you think sardines are a bit fishy or too strong a flavor try kipper snacks instead.
The Solar brand kipper snacks that can now be found at Walmart tastes excellent. |
