As stated in the title, WTF is The Order of the Black Shamrock?  Mentioned on the Emerson Knives site.

Seems like a tee shirt vendor pretending to be a warrior's order.  I could, and often am, wrong...so...

Just curious.

Let me just say this: after I joined the Order of the Black Shamrock, those kids are no longer after me Lucky Charms.

So let me get this right...in order to be a Black Shamrock thing, you have to be a true warrior, adept at arms, with a warrior's mind and the body of a tiger...

...but the shirts are available up to size XXXL.

sounds a lot like the "clubs" we made up when we were ten years old....no real purpose, they don't really do anything....but it can be a reason for people to get together and have a fellowship of sorts...

I'm not pissed that they are selling this nonsense to wannabe white knights; I'm pissed I didn't think of it first.

I'd like to point out that I'm really disappointed in the title of their warrior's den. With a name like the Order of the Black Shamrock, I was really expecting a Phil Lynott fan club.

There seems to be a desperate need within the firearms/weapons/training community to belong to something.

It's weakness.

I'd go so far as to say it's that need to belong to something regardless of the activity. Guns, music fans, quilting groups, just something to identify with. It's just with guns there's a fantasy about being in the right place at the right time to take down a terrorist group and get the girl to boot.

Finally something that will fit around my bulging....err biceps...yeah that's it.    I kind of like what they are about.  Seems like a reasonable code to live by.

I dont have a problem with it. Seems like some pretty good standards to live by.

The t-shirt that you have to buy separate looks better than the one that's included with membership.

It doesn't really seem to be all that different from those kinds of clubs. The idea is evidently supposed to be to bring back or maintain the old Warrior's Code, chivalry, etc.. If everyone in the group takes that stuff seriously, then it's probably a pretty good group. However, a bunch of guys are likely to join just to get the memers only t-shirt, the special edition Emerson OBS knife, and a chance to attend whatever Emerson/OBS stuff they have at the Blade show and other knife shows and forum functions.

I'm skeptical of any organization that anyone can join if they'll just give their name, t-shirt size, and $45, even if I agree with what they stand for. You never know, though. One day I might regret not getting in on the ground floor of the OBS.

I won't, that shit is basically the corporate policies of sartinco industries.
