It has the following stamped on it-

Match Target
Match HBar
CMH 020*** (SN)

What does the CMH prefix on the serial number mean?  It came with a red dot sight already mounted on it.  Also, the forward assist it the kind that came on the old full-auto M16's, kind of oval but in the cleaning kit compartment came a spare round forward assist which I prefer.

I think it is:
Colt Match HBar

Not 100% sure though

Vette447 is 100% correct.
If you want to change the forward assist
you should be able to knock out the pin
with a 1/16 roll pin punch. Just be careful not
to enlarge the hole if you use a larger one such as the 3/32 which takes care of most everything else.

went over to colt web sitewww.colt.com and could only find match rifles listed as MT.so unless this is a special rifle, maybe they colt rename MT rifles to CMH. just like VETTE said.

You have a post 93 ban Colt Match Target Match Hbar. It came with a round forward assist and whoever owned it before you put the teardrop one on for some reason.

Colt's other post 93 ban guns are:
Colt Match Target
Colt Match Target Lightweight
Colt Match Target Competition Hbar
Colt CAR-A3 HBar Elite

LawDog, I thought the ban was 9/13/1994?

It was. Probably just a typo. Colt also offers another postban model, the Match Target Competition HBAR II, which is a flattop with a 16" HBAR.

I took affect in 9/94. But its part of the "Omnibus Crime Bill of 1993".
