Tired of el cheapo insulated fabric lunch bags that don't really insulate and can be crushed? Plastic coolers are also easy to break and don't have enough room. So I went ahead and ordered one of these riveted alumium Miner's lunch boxes. Along with my Stanley Thermos and hardhat I am feeling quite manly in a Village people way.

May Metal Fabricators LTD. Big Daddy 14 ˝” L x 6 ˝” W x 9” H $60

I plan to eat my lunch sitting on it and then passing it on to my future Son.

The BigDaddy model is just begging for a gaming/media PC build inside of it.

I can see why people like those for nostalgia and/or art work but as containers they aren't very durable. I wanted one lunch box to rule them all. One that will last me a working life time and still be useable. $60 + $10 for S&H to the US is a lot. But it is cheaper than constantly replacing crappy plastic and fabric lunch boxes.

Big, tough, secure lunch box?

Not really.

Where is the lock on that thing?

Better weld some loops on the front so you can padlock it.

So someone just picks up the whole thing and leaves with it lol? Unless you weld a hasp to it and padlock it to something substantial I can see something like that disappearing on the 2nd day on the jobsite.

You've got a point but stealing a locked lunch box is about the same as stealing an unlocked lunch box except that it's a bit more trouble to get the food inside.

On the other hand, I can't tell you how many times I've had the choice parts of my lunch stolen right out of the bag/box.

Just the thought of some manimal pawing through my food disgusts me.

I had this in Kindergarten

it was pretty tough, except the thermos, broke the interior glass on day 1 I used to shoot it down the frozen sidewalks and driveways like I was curling. Wish I knew what happened to it. Mom probably threw it away.

Wow, it was the best selling school lunch box ever

I think accidentally leaving it on the roof of your car as you drive off to work would probably take care of that after a bounce or two.
