They're a dumb gimmick.

If you have a RR M16 I'd say they're cheap insurance. Otherwise pretty much useless on 99.999% of the ARs out there.

I bought them for my SBR build because they look cool.
I do not think I will ever shoot enough to really need them. |

I have a set but I don't know where they are. Geissele pins don't walk.

Pins on my wifes 1988 colt used to walk out. Got some for hers. Rest of my stable doesn't need them so they don't have 'em.
Just my .02 |

They let everyone know how serious you are when you post pics of your rifle on the internet. If you don't have them, good luck being considered Tier 1.

I bought some trying to crack down on some trigger pin wobble. Didn't really work. IMO I won't spend the 15-25 bucks again. regular pins are fine (for my guns which are play guns or low round HD guns) unless your really need them.
But seriously OP do a archive or regular search in the AR forums. 1 thread a week for years about them. |

If you build your own lower receiver, KNS pins are probably a good idea. A home built receiver may not be properly anodized and the pins would help the receiver holes from wearing. A home built receiver might also have fire control holes that are slightly oversized and KNS pins might help in this situation also. |

Basically this: If you just have a regular run-of-the-mill lower, they aren't worth it. If you have a lower that is difficult, if not impossible to replace (homemade, registered machine gun, possibly an SBR) they are. They keep the pins from rotating with the trigger, hammer and auto-sear (on machine guns), theoretically reducing wear on the pin holes. There are also people who will tell you they make the trigger pull more consistent on precision guns. |

KNS pins needed for your AR?, probably not. I installed a set on all my AR's since 2008. Never a problem with them...just like the look.

They can reduce pin breakage in 9mm and .22LR variants.

I figured for the cost, and possible benefit it was a decent investment.

They're great if you have "en bloc" triggers in your lowers.
CMC triggers for example come with new pins and c-clips. KNS pins eliminate the c-clips while still retaining the FCG pins. |
