Wireless tether for root users. root the darn phone. it's easy as hell and takes about 15 minutes. You can then remove bloatware, block ads, and tether.

Root the phone and flash a new ROM. Most of them have native tethering enabled.

What do these apps do?
I can connect my laptop to my Bionic via bluetooth and get internet. Is there something better? |

Anyone use PDAnet with sprint? I've rooted my phone and was trying wifi tether but it was causing all sorts of issues. But I cannot get PDA to keep a solid connection. I have to constantly connect/disconnect to do anything. I've also notice sprint blocking these apps from the market.

I use PDA net with Sprint, works great for the most part. Every once in a while things get snarfed up and I have to re-start the program but this is rare.

Apparently! I deleted the Foxfi update and now it works very well, looks like there were some bugs that affect Motorola phones. I need to reset it every 45 minutes or so, but no biggie. I think I will go ahead and root the phone and try some of the big boy tethering aps! Thanks for the input! |

I hit the wrong button and factory reset my phone, fortunately I had just gotten it so I didnt lose anything. ![]() |

It's no different than installing an app on an unrooted phone and giving permission to text messages and network connection and other things it doesn't need. In both cases you're warned when an app requests permissions. |

if you do use your phone as a hot spot, and are not on a unlimited plan, be care of your usage. Its real easy to burn up 2gb of data whne watching vids and such.

If not you can put it on your SD card. Yes you lose your apps and settings. No, photos should be on your SD card. Just google 'how to root Droid X'. You'll have to learn how to flash the phone (it's easy enough), because Moto was kind enough to put a perma-locked bootloader on the X. I did mine a while back. I now have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus that took me three seconds to root. Yay Google! |
