I don't move in my sleep, so I could do this effectively with an AR... and indeed I have. Only once, and even then it was under circumstances in which I had special reason to be nervous. Normally I sleep with it 3 feet from the bed, and if jumpy, I sleep with a blade in bed with me and the AR at the bedside.

And instead of bedding down with either, attaching these to your nightstand is a pretty effective route as well. ![]() |

Rifle and shotgun within arm reach of bed, but not in it.
When sleeping in the bush, I have slept with a firearm in the bag with me. |

My favorite bedtime rifle is my 1908 Brazilean Mauser. I just love that rifle.
If you want to sleep with a rifle you have to oil it very lightly. I never had any trouble with gun oil on my bed sheets. The trouble is that I can only sleep with my rifle when Crabby is away. |

This thread has reached its capacity of rifle-screwing comments, else there's a good "gun oil" joke in there somewhere. |

I'm just waiting for the story about the guy who took his Garand to bed and woke up with a bad case of 'M1 penis'...... |

not anywhere near as odd as sleeping with a woman you have wanted to get away from for the last 10 years...

Why do you hate guns and freedom?
Yeah, don't fuck with Sgt Sugarcookie's fantasy of taking on the zombie horde, or looting rioters singlehandedly even though they can't do 10 consecutive pushups, or march more than 2 blocks in their gear, complete with multi-cam plate carriers! |

Can one of you LeatherNecks explain what you mean by sleeping with your leg through the sling while in the field? |
