While mowing the lawn at church today I messed up some of my nice straight lines.

This is the reason.

Will be fun to watch this.

I'm really liking this 300mm lens.  I have to keep it around F8-10 to keep things sharp but it gets some great distance shots.

For the $400 I paid for mine (I missed the $300 refurbs) it is an outstanding lens.  I can see why people pay up to the $600 price tag on em.  When I get around to upgrading to a D7200, I am so keeping this lens.

I thought the purpose of Artillery was to kill large numbers of the enemy. Here is a picture of me trying to kill a platoon of NVA.

Artillery is not without its dangers though.

I'm still running a DX body (D5000) that's been great. The extra 50% of reach from the conversion is really helpful for aerial shots, but is annoying that my minimum is 105mm. My next aquisition will be a wide angle prime lens. My kit lens sucks and I pretty much refuse to use it now lol.

I got a screaming deal on a D5300 a few months ago and love it.  (sold my D5100 with 18-55 and 55-200 for $550 and picked up the D5300 w/ 18-55 for $575)  It is a huge step up from the D5100 and 5000 cameras.  The 7200 is pretty much the same camera minus GPS, but is weather sealed and has a built in focus motor.  The motor is the big one for me since AF-S lenses are spendy.  Can run pretty much any Nikon AF or AF-S lens on the 7200.

I still rock my 18-55 a lot of the time.  You can get a 35mm or 50mm prime for under $200 on Amazon.  I'd go with the 50mm 1.8f AF-S G though.  Weathersealed and designed to work on full frame sensors without cropping, but works with crop sensors just fine.  I paid ~$175 for mine and love it.

The 35mm is just a basic AF-S kit lens as far as I can tell.  Other than the 1.8f it doesn't do anything different from the kit lens.

That is the one I have.  58mm filter threads btw.  I'd grab a UV filter to work as a sacrificial just in case.

You can nab a refurb from Nikon with free shipping for $170 right now.

Yeah, there are some new ones on ebay for $170-190. I have no cash, otherwise the purchase would be made.

I know that feeling.  Parted with most of my firearms this year to fund camera stuff.  Figure I can afford to shoot a camera, not guns right now lol

Nikon pretty much always has refurb stuff on sale.  I'd check there and Amazon for refurbs when the time comes to buy one.

No I was just commenting on the Artillery video posted by MAJClem. Those are fairly new pictures though. Only 47 years old.

I used to catch the hell out of those things on the tender pier in King's Bay. Didn't realize they gave live birth until a buddy caught a female, and she gave birth on the pier.

I wonder if that bearing is a press fit or bolt on. If it's bolt on, it's not as bad. Press in and you're going to have a bad day! Maybe not today......but someday soon.
