THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
try not to get this one locked.

I posted my "butchered" M44 the other day before it was complete.
I got my mount in today and my project it complete!

I polished everything up and the trigger now rocks and the bolt (while sloppy) glides without resistance.
I have added a 2X scope on a S&K mount and I'm liking my results.

I can't wait to get out to these range with this thing and see what it can do.

EDIT:

I took it to the range today (friday 6/8/12)

I'm pretty happy with how it shoots, not so happy with how easy my targets are to shoot.
I shot chinese made albanian (comes in a steel box with a pull tab)
I also shot a box of winchester metric I had laying around which shot about the same size groups

this is winchester metric at 25 yards 5 shots

chinese made albanian at 100 yards 5 shots
the grid is 1/2" squares

this is chinese made albanian at 200 yards 10 shots (I threw one shot way off)
I believe I could have done MUCH better if I had a better target because these are hard as hell to see at 200

just a few more pics

just for funsies a pic of my rifle plate from TheTargetMan that I thought I'd shoot up with a .22LR, .38, and 9mm
there isn't even the tiniest blemish in the steel face.

IIRC, those scope mounts can work loose from recoil, so I'd be sure to throw some loc-tite on it.

the mount is an S&K
it's about the only scout mount that people say works, and it's not cheap.
I picked it up from brownells.
no idea on accuracy yet since I haven't shot it yet.

Mine does. The rest of the bolt is clean and shiny. I can not for the life of me get the handle to polish up. It stays a brown color I tried all kinds of polishes.

Yep the S&K is on the top shelf of the no-gunsmithing mounts. That said you do need to use blue loctite.

I hope you put a quality optic on it or it won't last long. Mosins punish barrel mounted scopes severely.

Not my cup of tea but OP has a rifle he likes, while some of the members here only have a .38 and a .22, and some have nothing at all except for a keyboard and a shoot sock in their basement bedroom.
