THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT OK.... "safe" is a little generous. It's a "Stock On" Elite. Not quite the quality of a "Ft. Knox".... but a bit sturdier than a "gun cabnet" kinda thing. She's about 3' high. There IS somthing clunking around inside (though a look on the internet shows this model comes with internal shelves.... which might be what's loose and "clunking". Now... supposedly "Stack On" will send you the combination for $10 after you fill out a form (kinda' takes all the "Gerry Rivers/Al Capone's vault" fun out of it), but they also ask for an original sale's receipt for the safe (which I obviously don't have...... unless it's locked in the safe! ). Anyone ever deal with "Stack On" before? How anal are they in regards to said receipt? (they also require a copy of a DL and a notorised signature... which I have no problem giving 'em).

It's just like this one, 'cept it has a conventional lock instead of the digital one in the pic....
It's actually not a bad little "safe" (note the word safe is in quotes... LOL) If I can get it open without "peeling it", I just might repaint it burgandy to match the bedroom! |

Weigh it. Ask the maker how much it should weigh with the shelves. Compare. |

In all seriousness..... it's 04:30 in the morning and I'm surfing ARFcom while the wife watches her "chick flick". Said "safe" is currently out in the garage with some other shit piled on top (had to find a temporary home for it after I got it home).... I'm not running out there now to take a picture.... even if you say "pretty please" I'll try to get a pic of it up sometime tomorrow...... I promise! |

I have a strange feeling that you will find inside yet another locked container of some sorts which will take one or two more days to aquire the skills/eggs to open in which time another yet smaller locked container will reside in which you do not want to damage due to it having a nice exterior there by requiring more expertise in which you will require yet another two to three days to study via google and wiki the methods used to open such a devious locking device so as not to damage the box... and then...

In on one. A pry bar or grinder with a cut off wheel could get into it as fast as possible assuming the lock can't be bipassed. Hell I bet it doesn't have a clutch, just put a long piece of pipe that will fit over the opening handle and pop it open.

Maybe inside is the directions to the box of lost Winchester rifles (I'm guessing they are in the old mans bomb shelter). Or possibly, the combo for the safe from the last 20+ page safe thread.

That cheapo safe can be opened with a crow bar with a little ass put behind it. Just pop if open and hope you get your money's worth out of it.

Leave it alone. Make it your "decoy safe". Leave it out in the open. Add some NRA stickers. If you have a break in, they will spend a lot of time and energy hauling that safe away.
