Ugly as hell, but easily fixed with a new stock set. I'd get it if the price was decent.

It's a sin to do that to such a nice rifle.

On the flip side, that may actually be some pretty badass camp in certain environments.

If he did that to an AR, I'd be impressed. Unfortunately, he did it to a Garand, so I'm having minor palpitations and my penis has inverted itself into my pelvic cavity in an effort to mimic that of the rifle owner.

Yeah, but Garand stocks are easy to replace (new, original, Dane, etc.), and nothing has been done to the rifle itself (other than perhaps a re-park), so it doesn't really bother me at all.

Plus, the "snake" actually looks like pretty nice meticulous work. If I had a bunch of tattoos, I'd totally want that rifle.

I'd get a tattoo of that rifle.

I also just noticed a typo in which I said "camp" instead of "camo." Oddly enough, calling that rifle "camp" is somewhat fitting.

Could be for DCM competition where they may be using new manufactured items and have no qualms about tarting them up a bit.

As much as it's fun to make light of the treatment, I highly doubt that one was a collector's item to begin with.

I've seen them a lot worse than that, at least the metal looks OK.

You know how everyone loves those skanky commie $80 bolt guns?

Well, back in the 1950's and 1960's, skanky mail order surplus stuff was USGI gear.

Since they were considered a "poor man's gun", people made a hobby out of fucking them up. "sporterizing"

I've seen winchester garands that had the rear sight ground off and the whole thing chrome plated.

Assuming that A) the metal is all original and B) he didn't do that an original USGI stock, then call me a heretic but I think it looks pretty cool.

What's the difference between that, and this:

I hope that was not an original stock. If that was just a commercial stock set like Boyds or something, just throw it in the trash and get some new wood for it.
