I ain’t sure exactly what’s going on here and I’m pretty sure I don’t want to know. So I’m going to back out of this thread but leave a generic comment that may, or may not, apply…
People can watch what they want as far as I’m concerned. It’s their business and, since most of the crap on tv is actually crap, I don’t see that it makes much difference. If you watch TV you are probably watching stupid worthless shit, and that’s your business. No big deal. But when you start to make watching some cartoon part of your identity there is a problem. And this is the part that applies to all kinds of things, not just stupid TV shows. |

What. The. Hell.
I am speechless. Every post is followed by another that's even more shocking than the last. I have never heard of this new My Little Pony show or the term 'bronie'. The last time I thought My Little Ponies was relevant was when my sister played with them 20+ years ago. And I just figured all of the people posting with avatars of pink ponies with rainbow hair were just trying to advertise their lifestyle choice in an openly subtle way. I mean, watch whatever the hell you want to watch, but wow guys. I hope you prepared your internet anus before posting this kind of shit on a gun board. As a silver lining, this bronie fad will result in more 18-24 year old women on the market looking for a man not interested in worshiping cartoon ponies. Keep up the good work fellas and I applaud your efforts in helping men get laid. |

Which means we get more pie then the guys on here that brag about jerking it to paid 'squrters' on Skype.
ETA Again: I forgot one ARFCOM 'Pegisister' so that's three depending on how you look at it. ETA: Oh and I'll go ahead and post this again since you obviously skimmed over it. ![]() |

That chick second from the left is hot as hell. But my point stands, I could post pictures of hot chicks in any type of get-up imaginable. The ones that aren't being paid to be nice to the guys hitting on them are likely not going home with a dude debating what the Pink Prancing Pony said in S04E12 and whether it fit with the imaginary cartoon pony's character traits from season 1. They're going home with dudes that act like dudes. Shared interests only go so far. There are, of course, exceptions to every rule. But I prefer to dabble on the side with the vastly favorable statistics. To each his own... |

For the record though, I find the show amusing, but I don't buy the merch. Don't really see the point. That said, I just prefer to spend my money on gun stuff. The wife did get me a Kidrobot LRRR! (futurama) minifig for my birthday though. Was hoping for zoidberg lol |

Generally speaking, we just like good animation, especially if it has an interesting story line and well developed characters. Everything I named has those qualities, but some, more than others. CJ This. I would rather watch cartoons, the classics, up through some of the 80's and 90's and the mid 2000's cartoons. Most all of them have been mentioned here. I would not have though to give the show a chance if it hadn't been recommended to me first, in the Team thread. I was aware of the previous incarnations of the show and they did not have any appeal to me at all. But FiM is very different and I found that there was a lot in it that I liked. It wasn't at all difficult for me to like it or admit it. After watching the first recommended episodes, I watched the whole first season, and the part of the second that was available on youtube at the time, in sequence, two episodes per day until I was caught up. I knew I was hooked when I found that I was really looking forward to the next episode. Not every episode has broad appeal, but a lot of them really do. At least for me. CJ |

Finally watched a couple of episodes with my three-year-old girls.
Now I think the adult male obsession with this show is even creepier. Nicely animated and wholesome, but beyond that, I can't understand why supposedly grown men would become so engrossed in this. This doesn't compare to Looney Tunes for a host of reasons. |

Lots of folks who try watching a bit don't get it. I'm good with that. You do your thing, I'll do mine.
I'd like to point out that, avatars aside, we keep to our own thread in Team. Really, threads like this are the only thing that gets us posting about it outside of BakerMike's MLP thread in Team. Other than "Bronies, WTF" type threads, the only time I've said anything or posted ponies was in the Pit, at times that seemed appropriate...and generally aimed at making fun of EXP. We really aren't disruptive to the site, or attention whores, and I'm sure that most of us would be happy to not have to say "Oh, good, this shit again", when someone inevitably starts flinging poo at us in a new thread. We can get along just fine, left to ourselves in Team. |

There's constantly nerd-controversy over that very question. The first two episodes are cool, and they set up the world, and are kind of exciting. But they're kind of slow, and they're the pilot, Episode 16 "Sonic Rainboom" is among my favorites. I also find episode 7 "Dragonshy". Some brony mentioned episode 25 "Party of One" the other day in the team thread. It's the second to last episode of the season, but it's a pretty good one, and there's not a lot of continuity in the first season anyway. |

I am going to post A collection of MLP:FIM episodes seasons 1 and 2. Yes, I do watch the episodes and enjoy them. They contain humor that is clean and not offensive, it is very rare to find that in today's TV viewing. The lessons that the episodes teach are another plus; Most kids cartoons today are just pure mind numbing garbage with no real value. All in all, I can understand why this cartoon is popular with people outside the target demographic; it's funny, it has good lessons intertwined in the story, the creators of the show listen to the fans, similar animation style to PPG, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and other cartoons that 90's generation watched. Also the amount of fan art that comes out of the fan-base is simply amazing; some, a very small percentage, of it is a tad creepy, but I have never heard of or seen a cartoon that inspires this much fan related artwork.

The two part second season finale is arguably the best episode(s) yet. It rapidly assumes epic proportions and
is a really good introductory episode, although I'm not so sure that it's a great idea to recommend the newest episode (and last of the most recent season) as an introducer. It spoils the surprise of finding out where things have gone so far. |
