Ok well, it was an ET1 and a retired coastie that were killed, both male. The supposed story of a 3rd injured coastie is false. The two were found in the shack/shed outside and to the front/side of the COMSTA building which is wierd because duty personel do not go there. And it's just where they keep the snow equipment ect. Plus, a 1st wouldn't be standing duty at night, but it's unknown to us if they would have a civie there over night. The OOD got the call at 0747 and when he felt the bodies they were ice cold so they had been there most of the night or morning. No one has been caught, and they are being very tight lipped. One flight flew out that morning at 0600 before they shut the airport down if someone wanted to escape the island. We now have three sets of FBI agents totaling 10 investigating. It seems like it's something big that nobody but the higher ups know about. Those are the facts. All the other stories about a girlfriend, DUI, ect are pure rumor, and the rumors are steadily flying.

Just talked to a friend there. The civie was a retired Coastie and the place where these two were found is the one location not under CCTV. Makes me wonder who all would know that?
The names are due to be released at noon Alaska time. |

Good update Terra! Thanks. I talked to my buddy that is head of TSA at ADQ Airport last night and he informed me that the Airport was NEVER shut down. They didnt even get a call about ANYTHING...NADA ... Nothing! Hard to believe but I think he would know and I havent talked to anyone that was delayed at the airport. Good to know there wasnt a 3rd person injured. ETA: The names are already known here in Kodiak but do not wish to disclose here. Just dont think its appropriate. I feel bad for the retirees wife. She is a nice lady. Apparently both men were older. .... I dont think they have much to go on for evidence. Sure hope they solve this as there isnt a good track record for solving crimes like this in Kodiak. |

The CG flights were cancelled for the day, and my friend was just speaking to the fact that there was an early flight off the island if someone wanted to leave. INSERT QUOTE TEXT
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Coast Guard has identified the two people who were shot and killed at a base on an island off Alaska's mainland. According to a release from the Coast Guard, the victims were identified as Richard Belisle and Petty Officer 1st Class James Hopkins. Officials identified Belisle as a retired Coast Guard chief petty officer working at the base as a civilian employee. Hopkins was an electronics technician. Their bodies were found Thursday morning shortly after they would have arrived for work at a Kodiak Island communications station that monitors radio traffic from ships and planes. The FBI is treating the case as a double homicide, and no arrests have been made. I had the honor of knowing both men. Both were good men and they will be missed. |

Truly messed up and can't wait to hear what the hellhappened.
Someone needs to fry but as we know with the last Coastie killed, Alaska doesn't do death penalty. I am waiting on a picture, I think I knew Chief Belisle. |

A search warrant was served on a man's house at 2pm yesterday before he got home, and when he did they kept him in a car. They were still there at 8pm last we heard. The man is a civilian (retired coastie) and the supervisor of the deceased and the STORY is that there was bad blood between this man and Belisle for a long time because he thought Belisle was trying to push him out to get his job. Seems like a stupid reason to kill two people, but men have killed for less. To make it worse, he showed up late to work because of a flat tire on the day the two men were found. THIS MAN COULD BE INNOCENT, and the cops could just be exploring all avenues, but who knows. This is what I know as of last night, and things could be different now.

MY tin foil moment, So if I was going to go through the trouble of wacking 2 people while not on camera in a very camera dense area, I likely would have put enough thought into it to have decent alibi as well as a red herring scapegoat(pretty easy to flatten a tire via a screw the day before). . My non tinfoil moment, WTF Kodiak only has about 3 miles of roads to drive on, how do you manage to find a nail? |
