Not a Maine Coon, but still a big cat. He turned one year old yesterday. http://www.fototime.com/0A40133B7827A56/standard.jpg I would love to have a Maine Coon, though. You sure it isn't a Maine Coon he has a "M" on his for head, that is a big sign of a Maine Coon |

Ive had several growing up. They will attack anything smaller than them, from birds and rodents down to damn caterpillers and dead leaves. Big and fluffy, very affectionate. Good all around cats, and great with kids if they grow up with them Page 2 Will attack thinks bigger than them. They can be in a dead sleep and see something move and they are all over it ASAP. |

Our girlie Maine Coon loves to be near us, especially laying across the floor at any bottle neck in the walking area.
She has a body pile in the back yard, every summer. She has taken a squirrel and opossum. |

Exactly. Many of them have a fluffier and more noticeable 'mane' -type collar too. |

We've had several over the years. They have cost my dad over $10,000. No more Maine Coons for us. Cool cats, though.

I fucking HATE cats. Aren't you fucking special? You should try to discern the difference different types of front sights. Suck on a few and see if you can notice the difference. |

Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Might sound stupid but I have a serious question as I have been contemplating getting one. How are they if you have wood floors? Will the floors get scratched to pieces? Do you get this breed de-clawed or does that make them completely defenseless? No cat should ever be declawed. +1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 It's like gun control for kitteh. And I'd end up being pretty neurotic too, if I couldn't defend myself like I used to. |

I like my pair of Norwegian Forest cats. They act just like the coons I have had as well as the two coons at my parents house. Well one now. The three legged one just died last month at 20 years old. Spent the last 10 or so years with one back leg. He was a 4 foot long 25 pounder that leaned on everything and everyone so he didn't tip over! Anyway another few pics of the Norwegians, Jack Bauer pissed I woke him up. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h191/lsimmons12345/3.jpg?t=1329937393 LaPew trying to eat Jack Bauer. 4 years old and 5 months old. Hoping Jack will be Pew size. Pew is the best cat ever. He vibrates the area around him just by being there. His breathing is a whole nother story. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h191/lsimmons12345/5-1.jpg ETA- a few more.. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h191/lsimmons12345/24596_1425698209384_1440651931_31126581_4046915_n.jpg Turned into this. Notice the cat is ~50-75% of kid size, and it has stayed that way for 3 years! http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h191/lsimmons12345/330149_2444833807137_1440651931_32803036_1429980617_o.jpg It is believed that the Maine Coon breed started from a Norwegian Forest Cat and a farm cat. The Forest Cat is also susceptible to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). It's a thickening of the heart muscles. We lost two Maine Coons to HCM. My dad takes them to WSU every year or two to have them tested. Hip Dysplasia is also a problem. We have one thats leg is not attached to his hip. He runs around just fine. |

I have a cat I believe to be part Maine coon. He is over 14 pounds and very long, and the best cat I've ever had.
As soon as I thought he was big enough I let him outside and he unleashed hell on the local mouse mole and chipmunk population. He's a big baby that doesn't mind all my kids and even puts up with an 8 month old son and two year old daughter. Downside is with my maybe Maine coon is he loves to scratch stuff. He just destroyed some clothe blinds in my master bath. |

My last roommate had one. She was cute, but she disproved the notion that cats always land on their feet. That was the damn clumsiest cat I've ever seen. It would always fall of shelves, do faceplants, etc. I'm allergic to cats as all get out, but she was a neat cat. She had the most interesting vocalizations - not the usual meows you expect though she was capable of that, too.

Like I said I think he's part Maine Coon because I've never had a cat this large before. Loves the kids and he's patient enough to let my daughter hold him while I snap some pics. http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z53/bencanini/IMG_0318.jpg http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z53/bencanini/IMG_0319.jpg http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z53/bencanini/IMG_0320.jpg That thing looks like a Bobcat, with a long tail. |

Get it shaved or "Lion Cut." I have a Main Coone mix and prior to doing that hair was everywhere. Now he seems much cooler and I don't have his hair on everything.

He does. I keep seeing people say that the cat is more like a dog. He sure is. He's just everybody's friend. He sure plays like a cat though. He's constantly attacking my legs but he's smart about it because he usually only does it if I'm in jeans. |

Quoted: Dogs have owners, cats have staff... I think you have that backwards. Which animal has the door opened for them so they can go to the bathroom? Which animal demands you take them for a walk? Which animal demands you play with them? You have to serve a dog otherwise it will piss in the house and tear things up. Cats require no maintence as long as they have food, water, and a place to go to the bathroom. |

Once you walk by he will walk into the room with you, and then tap you on the arm to let you know he wants attention. They are a great breed! |

DUDE.. your cat is going to freaking love the little jungle gym you made!!!
Awesome! |
