THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Number one, prone sideways gun under car thing
![]() Scenario 1, badguy is standing: The only target you have are his little legs because you have no upward field of view because of the car. Its also harder to hit his legs because your gun is in a sideways position with the sights not correctly lined up. So even if you hit his legs, he is just going to hop one step left or right, at which point you cant see him, but your entire body is exposed. You die.
Scenario 2, badguy is in prone: Your gun is sideways making your shooting much more difficult and less effective, he is in a nice stable prone position, he shoots you. You die.
Number two: Laying on back like spread eagle for loving thing.
![]() 1: Just get in the prone idiot.
2: If you are simulating that you fell over or something your legs wouldnt be so perfectly set up. (Also you didnt really fall over)
3: If you can shoot fine standing, you can shoot fine like this, its not going to learn you anything.
Number three: Laying on your side like a jackass.
![]() 1: Why do you guys fall over so much? Get your inner ear checked.
2: You are now completely immobile, should have just fallen into regular prone.
3: I bet you broke your hip falling on all that shit you have on your belt.
Number 4: Fuck if I know.
![]() Someone please make this nonsense stop!!!!!!!!!
Awesome Unorthodox shooting positions:
Awesome 1: Mississippi prone.
![]() 1: Bare feet add traction.
2: You feel more at one with nature.
3: All the benefits of wearing those toe shoes, but heterosexual.
Awesome 2: Garbage Can Kneeling.
![]() 1: AWESOME!
2: SEXY!
3: You are impervious to AKs, as they all just fly out of the hands of your attackers into that bin and turn into even more cover.
Please feel free to add more pictures of Unorthodox shooting tardation.

Position three is actually taught by the Navy for pistol and rifle shooting as an alternative to prone (except they have you stack your legs). Its a little easier than prone if you're wearing a shitty helmet that obstructs your vision when laying down.

I winged a bird with #3, firing a rifle I'd never touched before.
Saw the position in an SKS manual and wanted to see how well it worked. ![]() |

If the guy in the last 2 pics was really "hard core" he'd be face down in those flooded ruts.
Is that PJs the one fellow is wearing???? Hope they had fun. |

I'm a big fan of rolling sideways on the ground while simultaneously firing Desert Eagle .50 cals at your target and yelling.
You got any video of that? Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

The barefoot guy in the Hawaiian shirt and PJs, should move to his right about 2 feet.
Then he would be Louisiana Prone... |

The shooting from odd positions thing has indeed jumped the shark a bit. You only need to do it once or twice to figure out that it can be done and that's pretty much all you really need to do. Courses that are comprised largely of shooting from goofy positions with carbines leave me non-plussed.

it's really not that hard to hit stuff in that # 1 position,, and it's relaxing
ps would have worked great in No Country for Old Men when the guy with the silenced shotgun was aways away across a street
Oh I think the curled up behind the tire thing is trying to take cover behind the engine block or something. I was taught all these at some point but # 1 is the only one I bothered to remember.

I pretty much subscribe to the theory that anything RustedAce says is gospel, so I'll eliminate those firing positions from my arsenal. This should be especially easy because I have never used any of the first three. I used the last two in a Nerf war in my mom's basement once and just obliterated fools.
If you doubt the validity of my first claim above, consider this: 1. AKs do, in fact, belong in the garbage can. 2. Soda and Peeps are deliciious. 3. People on this site seem to worship RA. So there. |

Ace be trollin'.
I can't say that learning to shoot from every possible position is necessarily a bad thing. And pic #4 put you behind the mass of the brakes and chassis. It's decent cover, unlike 90% of the rest of the car. |

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks (most) of these positions are totally useless. There are some very limited instances that one or two of those positions might be useful. But in each of those instances I can't think of any reason a normal civilian would ever be the one shooting......ever.
But shooting, even in retarded positions, is better than not shooting...so although I look at some of that and , it's better than sitting behind a keyboard all the time. |

They all pretty much are very hard to get out of and very much limit your effective fields of fire, not a good combo. |

The only thing I can say about # 2 is having seen this taught in a class where some guys had never shot while moving before, or really done anything but shoot off a bench because of the area where they live, having to shoot like they had fallen without shooting their knees off probably made them think some. I never bothered shooting like that again after the class I saw it in (until the next class where it was taught probably) but for some people who have to shoot in very restrictive environments I don't know that it was totally useless

It's better to practice hip shooting. I know all the "professionals" scoff at so-called "movies" (documentaries) like Rambo, "He doesn't even use the sights!" But in reality, if you can hit every living thing you shoot at, firing an M60 one-handed from the hip, what position couldn't you shoot from? I rest my case.

Why not shoot in all these positions at least once? See what you like, see what you dont. If you ever find yourself hiding behind a dr. pepper can while killing zombies that are going urban prone something might work out that youd had tried back when you were listening to Bob Seger and growing facial hair |
