Mods & Staff, this thread with Donation information is Striker and Staff approved.

This is the information on where to send donations for the Former Marine who was arrested in NYC when he tried to check his gun.

This is not a thread to bad mouth the guy or call him stupid for a mistake he made.

He tries to do the right thing when he read a sign that said "all weapons need to be checked before entering"

The story can be read here and the link to the Attorney is below.

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/former-marine-refuses-plea-deal-in-nyc-gun-possession-case/

If you want to donate to his legal fund send the payment directly to the Lawyer representing him and put for "
Ryan Jerome legal fund"

I talked with Ryan's Attorney and he seems like a real good guy and competent.

They are working on a CC solution, in the mean time even a personal check is good too.

I had a Marine making a joke one time that we always stayed on the ships where it was safe.

I didn't bother telling him all the men we lost in WWII in the Pacific and other places, Pearl Harbor and all too.

I just pointed out we were happy to provide the ride anywhere in the world they were shooting at Marines

This is a thread to help someone who made a mistake.

It is not a thread to bash someone who made a mistake.

If you want to bash the guy you really need to start your own thread please.

A Corpsman always takes care of Marines. A check will be in the mail tomorrow.

Is the NRA providing any legal/financial support?

Whatever money is left at the end of this month's budget goes to this marine.

In addition to sending money, and perhaps more importantly, we should put pressure on the prosecutor and AG. Contact their offices directly and professionally let them know what you think.

Write letters to the editors of the NYTimes, NYPost, and local papers. This stuff makes a difference. Sway public opinion. Make the prosecutor look like a total douche in the public eye, and he or she may strive to look like less of a douche.

If you're local and can attend the court proceedings, do so. Be professional, but make sure the Marine, the prosecutor, the judge, and the media know you're there and that you support the accused 110%.

If you really want to go the distance, picket outside the courthouse. Make sure everyone going into and out of the building knows that the prosecutor is giving the shaft to an honorable man for purely political reasons.

Here is a letter from the guy's attorney to the NYC DA's office...

http://www.nypost.com/rw/nypost/2012/02/15/media/021512_marine_letter.pdf

Well...it doesn't sound like they are trying to "challenge" NYC's/NY's unconstitutional Sullivan (handgun) laws unfortunately.

It sounds like they are just trying to get all charges dropped entirely. Which is ofcourse a good thing...

I guess if successful, it will set a sort of precedence...but I would rather see them bring Heller and McDonald into the argument and REALLY stick it to NYC, while getting charges dropped at the same time.

Just dropped $25 in the mail

HOWEVER, this Marine winning his case may not be the best thing that can happen. Best case scenario, he loses his case, appeals, wins the appeal and sets case law precedent

Edit: OP, when making out the check, could you clarify if the "Ryan Jerome legal fund" should be in the "To" section or the "memo' section with Mark Bederow's name in the "To" section?
