Clean up on isle 3........ Hose off the flesh and get that engine changed !!!! We need that jet back on the flight schedule !! |
Note to self: Stay clear of massive blades that suck in tons of air.
I've done plenty of work on those with the engines lit.. always had a healthy respect for 'em.
I always thought the 777 would suck someone in, hasn't happened to my knowledge. |
lolz, that engineer ruined all the blades on that jets engine.... what a shame.
on another note, i wonder how long it too to get ground to that mess? was it almost instant or did it take 15-30 seconds? and how much of it did he feel? lol at the ground bits behind the aircraft. S |
I imagine he was gone pretty darn quick by the look of that mess.
RIP |
According to the report, there were 114 passengers on the A/C at the time. A few of them must have seen the event.
I am glad that I wasn't one of them. I hope there weren't any kids among the witnesses. The aftermath is kind of messy, but seeing it happen would be a bit worse. |
At least it was quick .
Shitty for his family, other ground crew, people on that side of the plane, pilot etc though. |
It looks like a molar about 200' from the R/E.
Fuuuuuucccckkkk. |

A quick wash down, compressor wash and rinse, QA check and good to go. Those turbine blades are bent to shit Yeah, I'm thinking a human body through the blades counts as foreign object damage (insert immigration joke here). It appears that large fragments managed to pierce the inner surfaces of the duct, I'm guessing that those must have been larger chunks of bone given significant velocity by the blades. Either way that engine definitely needed some serious repairs before ever operating again. One wonders what the overall time frame of the accident was, if it really occurred "instantaneously" (<1 second duration), or over several seconds. |
I don't think too much of him went down the core but, i'll predict this engine will be disposed of.
I doubt they rebuilt that engine. Bird strikes are one thing, sucking in a flock of Canada Geese can cause damage exceeding the value.

Anyone remember that guy that got sucked into an engine on the deck of an aircraft carrier? How did he make it out fine? That looks so fake. I know it is real, but it is just so cliche- a real pink mist! Found it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jxcSY1AwrM Got hung up on his gear harness. Only his helmet got ingested. Lucky bastard but that must have been the ne plus ultra of a "pants shitting moment" |
not very pleasant
I hope it went very quick and he did not feel anything. |

Pilot felt something so returned it to idle, than First Officer said something went into the engine and pilot killed it. So how long does it take to wind down from 70% to idle, then to off? Also, the corner said no autopsy or even tox tests could be conducted due to the state of the body. |
Why no Tox tests? Couldnt you just scrape together a large goo sample to test? I guess you couldnt really get a specific BAC when you dont know how much blood you are testing...
The AAR stated that the decedent had been a mechanic for 40 years, so he was likely early-to-mid 60's. Suicide by plane, perhaps?
I suppose the actual grinding isn't the worst part, as much as knowing how fucked you are when you're being sucked toward the blades. I bet time slowed down like a motherfucker.

Anything you got would be a slushee of muscle tissue, bone, fat, other bodily fluids, etc. I don't think you can just throw something like that into a test tube and get a result. |
I wonder what the captain told the passangers at the time why they had to return to the airport......yeesh can you imagine looking out your window when that happened?
PS. I hope that guy never watched that scene in die hard 2 when they were fighting on the wing. |
Being an airport and all, there HAS to be a video somewhere. I wonder how long it actually took. It looks like it spun him around a bunch.

Not clicking.
Seen enough on the internet already. My BS & butchery limit has been reached. Bad things happen, why glorify it? |

Are you talking about the one where there bodies are quartered up and lined along the sidewalk, with their man parts in their hands? That picture is what made me stop looking at any cartel thread. |
Glad I didn't have lasagna for dinner after seeing that. Would that be considered a manwich?
Hope he went quick, poor guy |

I clicked, don't know why.....
Under the last pic, it says 'click here for hi-res pics'. No thanks. |
