THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Here is what I have so far. I have to order 2 more packs of ERGO Grips rail covers and get the light and it'll be finished in my eyes other than going out to the range to fire...
here is the prop rifle that was actually used in the film, according to the internet movie firearm database, imfdb.org

ok, after doing more looking, it seems the PentagonLight company has gone out of business and that's why the lights are hard to find. I found a guy on calguns.net named GETTINREADY who seems to be selling his for almost half the original price. now I have to sign up for ANOTHER FORUM>>...>>..>>

I believe the host rifle was a 6920 modified to fire FA. The light is a fenix and they are no longer sold. I'm not positive but I think someone sued them (surefire?)

Everything i've found said PentagonLight was the company. Being sued by surefire seems to be the common reason as to their demise.

It was a PentagonLight, not a Fenix. Fenix only recently started making weapon-mountable lights (and I don't think anyone really uses them). Plus, I think PentagonLight is the only company with the light/laser combo units such as the one in the picture. And Fenix was never sued by Surefire, but Pentagon was. |

Interesting basis for a build. What rail is that on the original?
|

They don't have that particular rail listed. Later in the IMFDB.ORG posting for the movie, they have a different railed AR shown with that rail's details listed, but not for the rail shown in the picture above.

So you have the wrong buttstock, wrong grip, wrong barrel profile, wrong FH, and wrong mag. I think my M1 is just as close to the prop rifle as the OPs,.

the rifle pictured looks to have a 16" M4 profile carbine length barrel with a YHM-ish rail and A2 grip and M4 stock.
ETA I think those are UTG rail covers. |

I understand the idea, but its far from a "clone" rifle. Since your not really staying true to its original configuration, I suggest finding a different light from somewhere like surefire. I bought 1 Pentagon light and wouldnt own another even if they were still in business. The battery life is crap and there are way better options out there for the same price.

Aside from you having an AR15 and the movie using an AR15 platform, what are you keeping the same? Optic? Since its really not a clone at all you might as well use a flashlight that you can still find parts for IMO. |

Pentagon lights don't have to be paperweights. Standard surefire p60 type bulbs will fit into the 2 cell lights without problems. I've been running a p60 in my MD2 for a year now without issue.

I don't think anyone said that it wasn't a good looking rifle. We just don't see the similarities as you do. Don't get all but hurt about it. You did better than having a Fiero kit car and actually calling it a Ferrari.
I believe our collective thought is that the things that you changed give each AR it's individuality and character. "I've changed a few things like the gas system length, rail length, barrel profile, and buttstock." |
