Sip it, or you are wasting your money. Do shots with cheap stuff.

With a handfull of ice and a strong splash of cool water, mix in glass and slowly enjoy.

I'm drinking some right now too. If you think Jameson is strong we have some single malt scotch you need to try.

I picked up a few bottles of Middletons very rare, enjoyed it, then got the MC's fro $20 a bottle and it was almost as good. I was sort of pissed at myself for blowing so much. |

Jamesons doesn't sell a single type. We get the cheap stuff, for the most part. Their 12 year old singles are pretty awesome. Now Knappogue Castle Irish Whiskey? That is getting to perfection. |

Quoted: When jsut say "Jameson's" it implies the regular run of the mill bottle. Otherwise people normally indicate what step up they bought. I.E. my buddy always buys Jamie 12 year. I bought a lot of 18 year. Quoted: Quoted: Jamesons IS the cheap stuff.Sip it, or you are wasting your money. Do shots with cheap stuff. Not like he's drinking Middletons very rare or anything. On my honeymoon we toured the old Jamison distillery in Dublin. They stated the only proper way to enjoy it is straight with maybe a dash of water.

If you like Knappogue Castle, try to find some Tyrconnel. A bit smoother, and I like the flavor. It's tough to find. When I ran out I decided to try Knappague. Both are good, but I like Tyrconnel more. Drinking Knappogue right now. I'll buy more of both |

I'm pretty proud to be Irish, and I have a bottle of Glenlivet next to a bottle of Jameson, which is next to a bottle of Knob. I keep the Midleton hidden in my closet though, and my roomies don't know it exists. I don't mind sharing my $40 stuff, but be damned if I share a drop of my quality liquor. |

The only way I've found to drink it so far. it's called the "STP" (the oil, not the band) 2parts Scotch 1part Vodka 1part Maple Syrup From now on, I'll just stick to my Gin or Vodka |

Gay trendy BS. Stick with ice cubes made with distilled or filtered water. Or a nice spring water if you choose. Good beefy ice cubes > little ones. |
|
I can't believe all of the bull shit advice in this thread.
OP. Skip the ice. Do not mix it with shit. Keep the bottle in the freezer. Pour about a shot, take a sip and swish it around your mouth for about 5-7 seconds. You will notice several subtle changes in flavor. Your welcome. ETA: I currently have 4 bottles of Jameson's in stock. |

Quoted:
Keep the bottle in the freezer No. Vodka and other clear liquors are ok for a freezer. You don't do that to a good whiskey. |
|
I find Jameson to be relatively smooth for whiskey in it's price range. However some ginger ale and ice works well, you can even mix it fairly strong before you get that overwhelming alcohol taste. Add a little lemon if that is your thing, I go without personally

OMG!!!! Some one get this poor Sod a drink of decent whisky. Tyrconnell !! Single Malt Pot Still Irish Whisky !!! Look for it on the internet and once you have a touch you'll be using Jamieson to scrub the floors with. Life is tooo damn short to be drinking cheap whiskey lads. And, if you are going to drink Irish, the proper way is to pour yourself a nice tot, straight up or at the very least, a light, light splash of good water, me? We throw the cork into the fire, it won't have any further use. And another thing! If yopu mix ANY kind of Irish with "soda" (oh my freaking God), you're nothing but a damn Commie bastard!

Step away from the Irish whiskey and go buy a single malt scotch. You can thank me later.
When you get some, drink it in a rocks glass neat or with 2 - 3 cubes of ice. Use ice from distilled water if your really anal about shit like that. ETA <––––––––––––––-Irish American, 100%. |

Jameson NAS (No Age Statement) is generally considered the "cheap stuff" of not only the Jameson line, but the entire output of the Midleton distillery in Ireland.
Cheap does not always mean bad, but I've always found Jameson NAS to be overly harsh and not easy to sip. Whiskey drinkers are VERY particular about their tastes, so there is no right or wrong answer in this regard. In fact, you may be stunned to learn that Jameson NAS scored higher (96?) than Jameson 12 yr, Gold and 18 yr in the 2010 Whiskey Bible published by Jim Murray. If you are not liking Jameson NAS but are looking for a sippable Irish whiskey in that price range, I would recommend trying Powers Gold Label, which is about the same price (and incidentally distilled at the exact same distillery as Jameson). It's about $21-23/750ml and contains much more pot still distillate than Jameson. I find that Powers is much more sippable; Jim Murray stated "if you're broke and you can only afford one bottle of Irish whiskey, make it Powers" in his 1997 book "Classic Irish Whiskey". If you are not adverse to spending a bit more money (say $40/750ml) then I would heartily recommend Jameson 12 yr, Redbreast or Black Bush as wonderful sipping whiskeys. All of them have unique character. The Jameson 12 yr exhibits a distinct sherry character. Redbreast is the most readily available pure pot still in the US. Black Bush started life as a liqueur but then evolved into its current slightly smoky appellation. |
