Bought the gun from a friend years ago and the gunshop he bought it from said the guy did alot of work to the gun.
The barrel is ported, the finish is an aftermarket satin grey, the trigger was smoother then stock and I believe the cylinder has been throated. The gun is an SP101 and the serial dates it back to the early 90's. Anyone have any idea what the trademarked "W" means?

Nice, thank you for that.
Looked up the website and the logo's match. The work completed on the gun would have been over 10 years ago, maybe even 15. How does one go about figuring out exactly what they did to it? Their website doesn't seem to talk about any revolver work other then added a rail. |

Called and talked to them, they didn't have someone at the moment to answer my question on what work was done but they said if I emailed them they would look it up and get back to me. Kinda curious to know if all the things they offered in the upgrade package. |

After looking up more info I'm even more confused.
The details of the package seem to have a bobbed hammer and a trijcon front sight. Mine seems to have everything in the package minus those two items. Maybe he offered services ala carte? |

I've never met a gunsmith who wouldn't add or remove from a package if the customer wanted. The package deals are just things that go well together and a way to get someone to do a little more work than they might have originally planned. You start with a trigger job and by the time you're sending the gun it's a package with five other services at double the money.

Nice looking revolver, OP. Doh, don't know why I used an A instead of an E. About the revolver, thanks. It's a really nice shooter. 1/2 of my shooting buddies have an sp101 due to them shooting mine. There brand new ones never stacked up esp when shooting .357 vs. mine but a 10lb trigger spring in a new sp101 really helps that ruger out. I've bought and sold quite a few guns over the years but this is one of the few that's always stayed in my collection. |

The lines of the Ruger seem to have a more modern cut to them, especially the 101 in regards to the bottom of the barrel and the meet point for the frame and barrel. S&W IMO have more classic lines, and haven't really changed all that much in many decades. The Ruger's to me, bridge the gap in design between S&W and Chiappa . I love how futuristic the Chiappa's look, i like the classicness of S&W, and how Ruger fit's right in the middle. While i don't have a either of those at the moment, i will fix that in the not to distant future. My only revolver right now is a EAA .38 snub, i inherited from my father. |

Funny you say that cause I've always felt the same way about each style. I've already told myself the next revolver I will purchase will be a used S&W due to classic look you mentioned esp with some quality wood grips. BTW I believe I have the work done on the pistol figured out: "Hybra Port ™ Porting (™ Weigand Combat) Complete Action Tuning Crown Barrel Chamfer Cylinder Throats Recontour & Polish Trigger Eliminate Cylinder Endshake Replace all Springs Polish all Plungers and Pins Bead Blast entire Revolver

I don't know much nothing about tuning revolvers, but I have to figure the custom work alone cost more than you paid for that beauty.
Kinda makes me want to pick one up, and I've honestly never been a revolver guy. |
