HERE'S the link to the NYPost article.

FWIW... there's a thread over at SOCNET about this guy. From the sounds of it, there's no fluff to his reputation/story. Someone over there also mentioned that when he was home on leave, 2 guys tried to carjack him and that he had his CCW with him at the time. He added 2 more to his count.

Lutrell had a ghost writer.  I can't remember his name, but his books are pure unfiltered shit.

I like the modest attitude alot of snipers have; and from the Article
that this guy sounds no different. It's not that they take joy in
shooting people, the satisfaction they get out of it is taking out 1 guy
that wont be able to hurt another Soldier or Marine.

Impressive.

Falling under SOCOM he probably had more opportunities than Army Snipers and Marine Scout Snipers in theater to ply his trade. From the sounds of it he definitely didn't waste those opportunities and made an important contribution. Something to be learned there I think.

He retired a chief petty officer, and along the way, collected an armload of hardware, including two Silver Stars and five Bronze Stars with valor.

It's getting late.  When I first read the thread title I had a mental image of a sniper killing 160 seals.

His Charlie platoon even adopted the insignia of the comic-book vigilante The Punisher, spray-painting skulls on their body armor, vehicles, helmets and guns.

I met him about two years ago at an event at the ranch.  If you didn't know the story you'd never guess he was a SEAL sniper.  That seems to be the case with most of the good guys - they are polite people with no need to boast or advertise.  They do seem a bit confident, though.

Not just SEALS either. I met a guy in a bar the other night who just got out after being an Army combat medic. He was quiet & cool, but you could definately tell he was a certified badass.

I wish that joint had more tables, I'd have loved to have shot some pool with him.

That must be the same feeling a rattle snake gets when it's getting picked-on by a couple of gutter rats.

Agreed.

I have a friend who recently promoted to Colonel in the Army.

Multiple deployments.  Served three+ years in the 75th Ranger Reg.  Bronze Star plus Master Parachutist w/ combat star, etc.

As low key a guy as you could meet but he has some amazing stories.  And he doesn't embellish.  If anything, he downplays the reality.
