After the dotcom bust I got a lot of letters from a lot of law firms saying I was part of class action lawsuits against brokerages because I was a shareholder in internet tech stocks and Nortel. When I read the complaints, they were pretty risible. People lost money in the stock market and were suing to get their money back from brokerages that recommended the stocks. Good luck with that, never received any checks but it wouldn't have mattered because I invested so little. The plaintiffs according to the complaint lost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I got $8.44, and if I remember correctly I was selling a whole lot on ebay motors at the time.
To me it's found money. Selling mechanics tools and hot rod parts on ebay was paying for rent and food while I was in school, which wouldn't have been possible on the same scale without ebay. |
