Very , very interesting .

How are you liking that XLR chassis ?

I assume the action bolts into the chassis like the factory rifles ?

I just checked their web site , no Nesika 'M' model , yet .

Worth every penny and then some! Action bolts right in and it uses AI mags. Try calling XLR Ind. and see if he is game to fit your action Great to deal with and this system rocks!

Are the accutriggers an absolute necessity for the rifles? Are the non-accutriggers any good? The one I have seems fine. Are you getting that great accuracy without the accutriggers?

.17HMR heavy barrel with the accutrigger. It's nice, and I'm digging .17 HMR. It's accurate enough to be interesting, and you can have fun estimating drop and windage even at ranges that only go out to 200m. Everything counts for more with a tiny round that can get blown around and starts dropping fast past 100m.

The good thing about the pre-accutrigger Savages is that the triggers are adjustable.  Mine never needed any adjustment, but it's available if I need it.  There's no creep or over-travel in my trigger at all.  It's just smooth as silk and breaks crisp at 3 lbs.

Savage 110 FP with the heavy 20" barrel. .308

The thing is just ugly, covered in built-up gaffers tape and painted with a cheap ass scope on it. Has taken the life of
one of "those" guns that just kills animals all winter long. It rarely needs sighting in all the while bouncing around in the truck
or carried all over the pasture or hills from year to year. I loan it out to friends who are taking a guest that needs a rifle - they kill stuff with it.

I debated putting a nice scope on it for a trip out to West Texas but ran out of time, ended up falling with it while climbing a giant boulder. Yep still shot fine - killed
some stuff that trip as well. I always get a chuckle on crowded hunts when it is in a rack with fine rifles, it looks like a cheap whore compared to the others.
Then we go hunting and it kills some deer or pigs or whatever needs it.

Every time I debate on replacing it with something newer and fancier I kill something with it and I fall in love all over again. The scope is an embarrassment though.
Maybe I will replace that. It has only been on there ten years.

Here is the ugly whore from one of last years hunts... pic was posted in the hunting section last year as well. I know, we have small deer in Texas

A comedy of errors on my part I'm afraid...

Stock is uber flimsy, replaced it with a Boyd's pepper laminate that needed fitting despite being sold as drop-in.

Put a weaver 1 piece mount and rings, rings were too short for the scope and the base was machined wrong, never could get on paper at 25 yards

Now I'm having issues with case failures using heavier (60 grain+) bullets and loads I've been using for years. It'll shoot 55 grain Nosler Ballistic tips like lasers with 25.5 grans H335 and show zero signs of pressure but it's back to the drawing board for my Hornady 60 grain HP's and 75 grain HPBT. I think I ran into a bad bunch of LC brass from I bought from Scharch 10 years ago but I won't know until I get back to the loading table with some brand new W-W cases I now have.

You can get some adjustment out of a non accutrigger, but be careful. The parts are made of scintered metal, so there's little in the way of stoning that can be done. My 10FP would go to about 3.5 pounds by adjusting the springs and that was it, further adjustment would cause the rifle to go off by simply closing the bolt, YMMV.

I like them for the ease with which you can change the barrel, but it is a clunky looking gun. I cannot argue with the accuracy, but I just don't like the looks.

Now that the Marlin X7 is available, I'd use it for a switch barrel.

I've got a No. 4 Mk. I. It's a nice rifle and probably the best shooter of my Enfields. The woodwork is a mismatched mess, though. I've got a new set of wood for it but am waiting for a rainy day to fit it as it will require a fair amount of work.

A Savage Enfield?
Link Posted: 11/2/2011 5:24:05 PM EDT
[#46]
I have a Savage Model 10PC (Precision Carbine) .223 It shoots sub MOA at 100 yrd. It has the Accu Stock, which is amazing and the Accu Trigger, which is amazing when it works properly (see below). I use it for prairie dog hunting. Between my uncle my dad and me we have 5 savage rifles and they all shoot very tight groups (4 .223s and 1 17hmr)
My only gripe is the Accu Trigger. The model I have is advertised to work at 2.5lbs. However, when I set it to 2.5 lbs and set the bolt down hard the sear will not catch the trigger and the rifle locks up. This issue corrects itself to a degree as I increase the trigger pull weight. However, I paid for a trigger that should work 100% of the time at the advertised 2.5lb pull. Because of this I contacted savage and sent the rifle back. I haven't got it back yet. But so far the process has gone well. They sent UPS to my house and picked up the rifle and paid shipping for it. My father has the same issue with one of his rifles. He puts up with it, but I cannot.

Model 10PC .223
Accu Stock
Accu Trigger
Paid around 700

Leupold VX3 4.5x14 Varmit Reticle (Can't say enough about this scope)

Coastal Guns Suppressor (It big, sorta ugly, heavy, but it works well, and its stainless steel. Next time ill spend alittle more and get a more "advanced one")

Picture of the rifle when out prairie dog hunting. This was a coyote I shot in the head at 250 yrds after it made the fatal mistake of coming right into our firing line. (1 2 3 *woof* BANG. He went down like a brick shit house.)

I don't own one but my shop could not keep 110 packages in stock.  RIfle, boresighted scope, sling and hard case for $350.  We carried them in .308, .30-06, .270 and .243.

I have a Model 16 in .308 with a Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x40. I love it and have not noticed any problems with the stock, but mines synthetic so perhaps that's the difference. I take it on coyote hunts when we hunt the wide open fields where distance calls for more than .223 can deliver. It has yet to miss any yote that crossed it's barrel.

A Savage Enfield?

Yes, Savage Arms made No. 4 Mk. I and No. 4 Mk. I* rifles under contract to the British government from 1941 until 1944. Total production was slightly over a million rifles.

Mine is an early rifle, a 1942 Mk. I; by the SN it is the 39,184th No. 4 rifle made by Savage. The bayonet pictured is also a Savage-made item.

Not an accutrigger fan, I have lots of old savage shotguns and they still go bang so I trust the quality and no issues with any of mine to date.
