Poll inbound, please explain your answer.
ETA: nevermind, got it. |

The government. They do it "legally" and have been stealing from me for years!
The government. I am more than armed enough to handle a criminal or two. But I might need a couple of fellow arfcomers to team up with me to take on the government.
ETA - for sarcasm. |
the government. I can defend myself from criminals as an individual.

You can shoot criminals dead. The .gov just comes back with backup.

Life and small property (car, household stuff).................criminals
Liberty and large property (land, house, bank account)........government |

Then again, I guess one could say that the most successful criminals either work directly for the government or use it to meet their ends.

ARF answer: Both. You ask this like they're two separate things.
Criminal Government is one that operates outside the parameters of the United States Constitution

ARF answer: Both. You ask this like they're two separate things. I guess what I really mean are the criminals who work for the government (crooked cops, bureaucrats, politicians), vs the criminals that don't. |
Quoted: ARF answer: Both. You ask this like they're two separate things. Ha. True story though. Dumb criminals knock over the corner grog shop. Smart criminals go into politics.

I have many forms of redress if a person deprives me of mine. Not so much if the gov does it.
Nowadays, I think there's no difference between the government and criminals.
Government pretty much touches almost every aspect in our lives. Where as most people aren't victimized by a criminal. So you're far more likely to suffer the wrath from a government gone bad versus getting mugged or someone breaking into your house and stealing your shit.
And it's legal to defend yourself against a criminal. |
Quoted: Nowadays, I think there's no difference between the government and criminals. There never has been. In fact, nothing is any different than it ever was, nothing. |
Criminals have got a couple of bikes, and a car stereo. Government is well into six figures.

Quoted:
Short term, criminals Long term, Gov't This. The power to tax is the power to destroy. Congress is talking about instituting the European VAT system. They can tax you out of your home (can't pay your property taxes and your place gets auctioned at the county courthouse). They can silence you through intimidation (political correctness). When a criminal shoves his hands down your pants and gropes your junk, it's called sexual assault. But when Heimat Sicherheit Dienst does it at the airport, it's called airline safety. I think every American should re-read the Declaration of Independence. It's the mother of all grievances. We must not re-elect the incumbents who voted for the trap, TARP, which transferred the burden of private debt onto the public shoulder. We must not re-elect any member of Congress who would not move on impeaching the undocumented alien worker man child emperor king for his illegal war against Libya. We must not allow him to spur an attack on Syria either. |

I wonder how long this thread can really last when no one is willing to argue the opposing view.

Quoted: Quoted: Life and small property (car, household stuff).................criminals Liberty and large property (land, house, bank account)........government How much "small property" has the government cost you just in taxes? I guess in a way the government keeps smaller things from me, but it's combined with my own cheapass nature too. If I didn't have as many taxes, I'd have more money saved up (I have a decent amount now), but I'd still probably be a cheapass. Sales tax is what kills it for me usually. I almost bought a case of some PMC 5.56 62gr several months ago. With the sales tax I decided it was a hair too much. It keeps from from spending 5k or more on a newer car too. I'm looking for 4k or less, and it's hard to find what I want. Property tax also certainly takes money I might spend on other small stuff, but I also consider it a threat to the house and land. |

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? Poll fail. It's been addressed, most seem to understand the concept. |

Explain the difference? Criminals who hide behind government authority and those that don't. |

The power to tax and regulate are the power to destroy.. That alone should be simple enough to understand for even the most obtuse here ...
I know this is outside the scope of the question, but I'd answer that as "myself".
If anyone has a chance of derailing my life it's would be me. |
One in the same so I guess it would be the official Arfcom answer...Get End Both
I can defend my family and myself from the criminals...does that answer your question?
" No man's life, liberty or property is safe while the legislature is in session."
The government, by far.
Hell, thay can claim that social security is not a ponzi scheme, simply because it is administered by the government. |
Where I live crime is so low the town has only one cop and he is bored stiff and has a second job. The .gov is a bigger threat but you go shooting at them you are definitely going to get the worst of it so find a better way to remedy your complaints.
The government is simply Americas largest gang of criminals.
