Saw one tonight at the local Wallyworld - Bushmaster Patrolman's Carbine; 16' M4 Clone w/detachable carry handle. At 895.00, I was kind of 'meh' - but it was nice to see a legit EBR offered at the local box store - it's been pretty much Fuddville until now.

I always thought the reason they (along with Big-5, K-Mart, ect) didn't sell anything "assault weapony" was because they could easily accidently deliver restricted items to, say, California and the stupid employs would put it out on the shelf and Wal Mart would be in trouble???

I once bought a Smith and Wesson Model 19 .357 Magnum at AAFES (The Army/Air Force Exchange Service which ran PXs and BXs back in the day - and maybe they still do). AAFES still runs the shit show, they just recently dropped the "P" from all of our px's on post and now theres just an X that says "exchange" under it. gay. Anyhow, knox sells long guns and hand guns, no AK's since the new CG showed up...last time I was at benning they were installing a new gun counter, which hadn't been there before when I graduated OSUT. Infact, I just bought a sig mosquito at the ... X today! |

The three Walmarts I end up going to on the rich white-people side of town all sell only ammo. But go to the 'other' side of town and they sell long guns.

Walmarts around here seem to be all reworking their stores.
Smaller shelves, wider aisles and removing a few things. Ammo being one of those few things. Guns vanished quite a few years ago due to some settlement between walmart and the state of Ca for improperly documented firearms sales (they turned in the store FFL in exchange for the state dropping some kind of lawsuit/civil action). But for the rest of you, yeah... Nothing says "common use" to me more then a product being available at wallyworld. |

This is a good sign of the times. ARs at Wal Mart make me happy. The local ACE Hardware here has a huge gun room with all sorts of evil weapons. It's basically a full gun store inside the ACE complete with upgrade parts for many popular weapons. I go there for a $3 box of screws and come home with $1500 worth of guns and ammo.

Everything they sell is designed to maximize profit. U.S made, Chinese, whatever makes Walmart money. If you dobn't have guns in your local Walmart, it's because Walmart has determined that the profit margin is not there for stocking them there in your liberal, commie city. Walmarts are very regional oriented In town here they mimic Target. Go to a rural store and it looks like Redneck Disney World, tree stands, animal mounts and every hunting gun under the sun. Whatever make 'em a dime. |

Let's just say Wally World gets into AR's in a big, big way. Most AR owner's being frugal will usually buy at the least expensive place possible, which could very well end up Wally World. Well we've seen the devastation Wally World has virtually wiped out the mon n' pop retail stores, so what's to keep them from doing that here. How happy would you be if Wally World was the ONLY place in your community to buy an AR? Don't kid yourself. They have such a tremendous buying power, that they could easily be the controlling power of purchasing the AR platform for sale to the public. I'm convinced the mgmt. of WW won't be happy until they control virtually all mdse. purchases, and a good bit of the service industry first in the USA, then spread to other countries. It wouldn't surprise me if one day Wally World was selling Harley Davidson mototcycles. All I"m saying is Wally World are a greedy bunch of rattlesnakes that bear watching. Bang-Flop |

I predict Walmart will never stock:
1. Lowers 2. AKs 3. Boutique ARs (LMT, RRA, 9mm, A1, etc) or other black rifles (FN, Robinson, etc, I bet the only reason they're stocking Bushmaster is because Bushmaster and Remington are owned by the same company so it wasn't like they needed to go do a contract with a company that only does black rifles) 4. High-end accessories (Magpul, etc) I wouldn't put AR mags on the list, I think they could go either way on selling 20/30 round mags in the store. But, they sell Mini14s and I've never spotted a >5rd Mini14 magazine in the store IIRC. Kharn |
