So I have everything I need for a 300 BLK build minus the bbl.
I've got shit tons of brass that I can convert and a good friend who will let me use his press. Any reason I shouldn't do a 300 BLK build? Pro's Con's ? I've already got a SCAR and a 10.5 AR so I don't want another gun in 5.56. |

Quoted: Do it. Its even a fun round without a can Can you explain what is so "fun" about it? Is it just 30 cal goodness out of an AR15 with minimal recoil? I like the idea of it since a lot of the hunting I do is close in. I would probably be building it on my CAV Arms lower. ( not sure what buffer to run) I'm kind of cautious about it since I don't want to have a lower that broken in half with no way to replace it since CARArms is gone now. If I do get the bbl I will definitely have to get a 762 can. I already have a 22 and .223 can. I've been wanting a 762 can. I just haven't pulled the trigger on it yet. |

Do plan on buying a can? yes I seriously thought about it. Find it intriguing. But, the cost of a can, paperwork and bullets is just to much cash for me to quietly shoot paper. |

The best way to explain it is a modern day 30 carbine with much better bullet selection. Its recoil is mild and more a thump then a crack, if that makes any sense. Mine has had no issues getting it to run a multitude of loadings, both super and sub. |

There is no logical reason not to. Seriously, I thought about it for like ten whole seconds and couldn't come up with shit.

I think the S550, 750Lix, or the supercharged XJL would be the way to go.

then you can shoot these.. 240grs of lead goodness.. http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/7426/300blk.jpg How accurate/stable is the bare lead in a rifle? Sounds like a dumb question I know, I just don't know how well a bullet 'stays together' or is affected traveling down a rifle lenglth barrel at higher then handgun velocity. I'm still a casting noob, I've only reseached handgun stuff so far. Supressed .300 blackout is on the list for my next rifle, well upper, I have plenty of lowers to slap it on, I can cut my own brass no problem and make a mold to cast the bullets. |

I have not shot for groups due to no scope, but I was ringing a 12" gong at 250 yards about 95% of the time. thats with a red dot. |

I'm still here and 300 blk is still awesome At the last IAHTF shoot I brought a bunch of rounds and let everyone have at it. The rounds were gone quickly, everyone enjoyed it and I am helping 2 guys put together uppers of their own. While it does not quite get to 6.8 in terms of performance, it is close enough in performance that the price difference between the two make it a winner.

Do you just use a carbine buffer for this round? I'll be using my CAVArms lower for this build. |

My thoughts on .300 BLK (through a can) can be summed up as: "Fuck you, coyotes!" |

I plan on ordering an upper soon. Like you, I can't think of any reason not to want it.
I'm leaning heavily toward the LMT MRP. |

I will do no such thing good sir.
Put a can on it and blast some sweet, sweet subsonics out of that awesome 8" barrel. |

Flavor of the month. White elephant in a year or three. I'm going to have to disagree with that one. I'm never one to jump on a new caliber bandwagon, but this one is not an "answer in search of a question" as so many new flavors of the month are. I say it sticks around. It will never be as popular as 5.56 or .308, but it fills a great empty spot in my opinion. |

This new video, posted by LWRC, has me very excited.

Tagged for info...a suppressed SBR in 300 BLK seems to me to be just about the ultimate home-defense setup.

I'm going with the Noveske 8" upper and a 762-SDN-6
Now I need to start reloading. |

Quoted: I'm going with the Noveske 8" upper and a 762-SDN-6 Now I need to start reloading. Its a pretty good round to learn on. Lots of different loads out their and pretty forgiving. Plus if you fuck up the brass, its not like you had a bunch invested. It is a lot more mature round then most think it is. |

Talk you out of it? Alright.
Don't do it. It's too cool for you. |

I can also run 147s(subsonic) with off-the-shelf loads in my 9mm all day long. I know there is an extra 33grs of lead (a 22LR worth) in the 180gr round, but I am just not feeling the need to reload a wildcat to get the same results as a proven off-the-shelf-at-Wal-Mart load? I have a .308 that I can run subsonics in as well if I *really* need to get to 180+ grs of subsonic. I don't get the 300 BLK's purpose. TRG |

For someone making the decision to shoot something other than 5.56 this is an easy step with minimal fuss to do so. |

Flavor of the month. White elephant in a year or three. I don't think it's reall a flavor of the month. It has just about every advantage I can think of for a subsonic AR platform using all standard parts except the barrel. For around $500-$600 you can swap your upper and buffer srping back and forth in about 2 minutes and go from a standard AR to subsonic supressed. |
