I've been a member of Arfcom since 2001 and have about 14,000 posts here.  3 months ago I took a job with CheaperThanDirt in Fort Worth, TX and I'm having a blast.  Its a great place to work and the people here are really cool.  A couple of weeks ago, I recieved official authorization to log in as CheaperThanDirt and represent the company here on Arfcom GD.  Although everyone here surfs Arfcom at work there are only a couple of guys who maintain the company account on the EE and the Industry forums, which are pretty low traffic.  Everyone else just uses their own usernames.  

I, on the other hand, am going to post in GD.

On purpose.  

I will be talking about current events in the firearms industry, promoting events we are sponsoring, talking about products we are carrying, and all the stuff you'd expect from an industry partner that wants to participate here.  But its not just going to be "Hey look how great we are" spam posts, and I know I need to bring some things to the table too, so here in brief is what you can expect from CheaperThanDirt in GD:

1. Haters gonna hate, and it doesn't bother me.  I thought -51.49% win and (––Edited by CTD) was funny as heck.  The events of the Obama election and the price jump afterwards occurred years before I started working here, so I don't know that much about what happened and I'm not going to apologize for something I had nothing to do with.  I know there were serious repercussions here but I can't confirm or deny that people were fired over it.  The company moves forward and makes adjustments, the same way Ruger has (now building AR15s and factory Mini-14 hicaps) and Smith and Wesson has (remember the boycott over "smart guns"?)  We want your business now.  If you choose not to do business with us because of something that happened years ago, that's the price the company pays for past mistakes.  I wasn't around for them anyway.  Take another look at us when you're ready.

2.  CTD is not making me shut down my private username nor will they monitor what I post under that name.  Which is cool of them, really.  But as CheaperThanDirt, I won't disparage my company or its products, not that I want to anyway.  That being said, I will be honest with the Arfcom crowd here in GD to the limits of my knowledge of this company, our products, and the firearms industry.  If I don't know something, I will say "I don't know", not make something up.  If someone asks CheaperThanDirt if its a good idea to put a $30 China knock-off red dot on a 12 gauge shotgun, I will say "no, don't do that, it will break, buy something else."  Our tech support guys spend hours on the phone every day pretty much doing this anyway.  

3.  I will try to pass along cool insider type information when I get it.  This does happen sometimes, even though I'm a new guy and pretty low on the totem.  GD now has a man on the inside of the world of ammo/firearms/accessory sales, and its a weird world indeed, and I'm going to share the weirdness with you when I can.

A lot of people don't get marketing. List price is what someone decides it is. I'm good with that.
